The Information Technology Management (ITM) Area of the Scheller College includes 10 tenured or tenure track faculty members who study a wide range of research topics related to technology, such as fintech, e-commerce, cybersecurity, online labor market, knowledge management, digital marketing, as well as behavioral and social issues related to AI and generative AI. Many of our faculty members serve in editorial roles at premiere business school journals, including one of the Department Editors at Management Science, and the Editor-in-Chief of Information & Management. Our faculty also prides itself on its diversity of research methods, ranging from econometrics, statistics, experiments, to analytical modeling, behavioral research, machine learning and other design science methods. Job Summary

The Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia seeks applications to fill two Postdoctoral Fellow research positions in IT Management (ITM). The selected candidates will closely collaborate with the ITM area faculty on various topics. One topic includes those related to the application of generative AI in financial technologies (FinTech), which will be ideal for an innovative and motivated individual who is poised to engage in cutting-edge research in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. We are particularly interested in candidates who share our passion in this area, including the use of generative AI to capture signals in the financial markets, generative AI and financial inclusivity, the relationship between Large Language Models and the domain knowledge in finance, and more broadly the impact of generative AI on the fintech industry dynamics. Other topics of mutual interest are also possible. 

The postdoc is expected to begin in August 2024, with start dates as late as January 2025 also being considered. The initial appointment is for one year and may be renewed depending on mutual consent, satisfactory performance, and the availability of resources.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Work on high-impact research projects, from conceptualization, data collection, and data analysis to manuscript preparation and publication.
  • Teach one 3-credit course each year.
  • Perform related duties based on the needs of the ITM area

There is flexibility with regard to the starting date to accommodate the selected candidate.

Required Qualifications

A PhD Degree no later than the job start date in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems Management, Marketing, Economics, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge in machine learning, deep learning, neural language models, and generative AI models such as GANs.
  • Knowledge of causal inference.
  • Prior teaching experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
