A Brief Overview

Director, Security is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the organization's assets and property, as well as patients, team members and visitors within the organization's premises. Director, Security enforces the security protocols and policies, investigates suspicious activities, and coordinates with law enforcement personnel.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Law Enforcement, Business Management or related field. Required

Experience Qualifications

  • 5 years Supervisory experience in facility, organizational, company or institutional physical safety and security or law enforcement field providing physical safety and security. Required
  • 3 years Healthcare experience in physical safety and security. Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of security operations. (Required proficiency)
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Fire Safety or Haz Mat Training Preferred

What you will do

  • Manage supervisors and security officers, including hiring, scheduling, training, assignment, development, conducting performance evaluations and support.
  • Manage, prepare and oversee all fiscal operations of the Security Department, including preparation of operational and capital budgets.
  • Direct, coordinate and motivate security officers and supervisors in enforcing regulations, policies and public laws that contribute to the safety and security of patients, visitors and employees of the health system. Work collaboratively with other departments and leaders to ensure that Security Department operations and responses meet the needs of the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with security, safety and fire related requirements regarding Environment of Care standards as prescribe by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and accreditation requirements of the Joint Commission.
  • Oversee, guide and direct investigations of workplace violence, security related incidents, criminal activity to resolve and mitigate security risks and threats. Coordinates with local law enforcement as required to support and/or conduct investigations and prosecutions.
  • Conduct routine inspections and assessments to identify fire, safety and security risks and design, create, recommend and implements solutions.
  • Performs security investigations; creates, develops and implements Security Department policies and procedures.
  • Maintains screening/badge access systems for employees, contractors and physicians.
  • Reviews and conducts appropriate responses to daily incident reports.
  • Maintains “valuables” of patients and visitors, to include the facilitating the return or disposal of such items.
  • Maintains the organization’s lost and found.
  • Manages parking assignments and enforcement of parking violations.
  • Work with Risk Management to create safety procedures and education to reduce workplace incidents and accidents.
  • Drafts and submits reports related to fire, safety and security operations.
  • Oversees and maintains Infant Abduction Alarm System.

Travel Requirements

  • Local travel is required to be conducted between Stormont Vail facilities and locations.
