HDR is looking for a Summer 2024 Architectural intern candidate to work in San Francisco, CA. The successful candidate will work on a new hospital tower in San Francisco. 

As an Architectural intern at HDR, you will work with a team of licensed architects and architects in-training, on different project types and with diverse professionals. Our goal will be to engage you in various facets of our work so that you will gain a better understanding of how your coursework is applied in real-world settings and inspire you to engage in a career in architecture work upon graduation.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Architectural Intern, we'll count on you to:

  • Offer real-world experience on exciting projects
  • Participate in integrated design process with other disciplines at Integrated Center for Design and Construction.
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
  • Receive hands-on learning by collaborating with designers, consultants and engineers in a big room setting.
  • Work within Revit to produce design documentation.
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of an Architect, Project Manager, or other professionals
  • Participate in the architectural design process, and develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics used to communicate concepts to client or for agency approval
  • Follow through on design development drawings and models, and collaborate with production staff for technical details and completion of construction drawings
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Architecture program or related degree
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years completed toward degree with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry such as working knowledge of Revit, Adobe, and Bluebeam
  • Interest and/or experience in healthcare design
