YOUR OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting Senior Compliance Specialist opportunity in our Kansas City office. In this highly impactful role, you will be a key member of the compliance team. The Senior Compliance Specialist will be responsible for managing compliance with federal and state renewable fuels programs including new project planning, pathway analysis, development, and registration; pathway maintenance; routine monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting; program/pathway audits and verification; and regulatory research, interpretation, and compliance for all Seaboard Foods RNG and Seaboard Energy locations. Know and understand company operations to ensure renewable fuels program coverage and compliance. Other more general compliance and systems management responsibilities may be assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate operations and understand substance and application of renewable fuels programs and associated laws, regulations, and guidance, including without limitation federal RFS, California LCFS, California MRR, Oregon LCFS, federal fuel/additive manufacturer laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate with diligence and operations teams to advise and plan regarding new and existing opportunities for fuels program application, carbon intensity reduction, and economic impacts.
  • Analyze data and apply for original and update existing fuels program registrations and pathways.
  • Work collaboratively to develop and maintain reporting systems and procedures to assure compliance with fuels programs.
  • Manage record keeping, reporting, and data management related to compliance aspects of renewable fuels business.
  • Report internally on key performance indicators.
  • Lead and participate in compliance and pathway verification/quality assurance audits.
  • Ensure timely implementation of corrective actions stemming from compliance audits.
  • Achieve consistent compliance with fuels program obligations.
  • Engage in verbal and written communication internally, with consultants, and with regulatory authorities regarding new project planning, routine reports, program and system analysis, and compliance status.
  • Research and report on changes to laws, regulations, and industry updates related to the renewable fuels programs. Communicate appropriate information to management and ensure that all company policies and procedures are current.
  • Contribute data and information to support company sustainability efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, finance, business, or environmental discipline, and at least 3 years’ experience and/or training in related field.
  • Practical and working knowledge of relevant regulations.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, regulators, colleagues, and consultants.
  • Must possess the ability to solve problems and evaluate process logistics.

SCHEDULE

The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Occasionally, overtime or changes in schedule will be required as special circumstances arise.
