The Marketing and Communications Specialist is part of an internal creative team that promotes Housing & Food Services (HFS) at the University of Washington. HFS offers a variety of living and dining options that support students and the larger UW campus community.
As an auxiliary enterprise, the department is funded solely by revenue from students and customers who utilize these programs and services, such as on-campus housing, residential dining, retail dining, UW Bay Laurel Catering, summer conference housing, and the Husky Card campus ID card. This position plays a key role in leading annual and ongoing efforts to market on-campus housing and food services options to prospective students and HFS residents. Effectiveness is achieved by ensuring that marketing tactics reflect ever-evolving trends and best practices, and support the department’s occupancy, resident satisfaction, and business goals.
This position is responsible for supporting the development and execution of targeted marketing and communications plans for new and existing HFS programs and services.
This role is expected to last from June, 2024 through January, 2025, with the possibility of extension.

Communicating and promoting the benefits of HFS’s programs and services encourages students, faculty and staff to avail themselves of these opportunities, which can provide a sense of community, convenience and value—enhancing the campus environment and contributing to revenue for the Department, as well as the University. This position plays a key role in leading annual and ongoing efforts to market on-campus housing and food services options to prospective students and HFS residents.
POSITION COMPLEXITIES
WORKING CONDITIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, business or a related field and 2 years’ experience creating and implementing marketing campaigns. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
