Summary:

  • Immerse Themselves in World-Building: Join the Cosm content creation team, delving into the development of captivating narratives, characters, and the overall world for upcoming in-house projects for immersive experiences.
  • Craft Compelling Stories: Contribute to brainstorming sessions, generate story ideas, and flesh out narrative structures that resonate with Cosm's audience.
  • Bring Characters to Life: Develop character profiles, backstories, motivations, and personalities that will drive engagement within the Cosm universe.
  • Flesh Out the World: Assist in defining the lore, history, and culture of the world in which Cosm's narratives unfold, ensuring a rich and immersive experience.
  • Collaborate with Passion: Work closely with writers, artists, and designers to ensure narrative elements seamlessly integrate with the overall creative vision of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Concept Development:
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate ideas for narratives, characters, and the overall world of Cosm's in-house content.
  • Conduct research on relevant themes, genres, and target audiences to inform narrative concepts.
  • Develop detailed outlines, storyboards, or other narrative documents to flesh out story ideas.
  • Character Design:
  • Collaborate with the team to create compelling character profiles, including backstories, motivations, personalities, and visual descriptions.
  • Develop character relationships and dynamics to drive the narrative forward.
  • Generate visuals to support the character design narratives.
  • World-Building:
  • Assist in defining the lore, history, culture, and geography of the world in which Cosm's stories take place.
  • Conduct research on relevant mythology, history, and cultures to create a believable and immersive world.
  • Contribute to the development of the world's visual aesthetic through descriptions and potential concept art (if artistic skills are present).
  • Collaboration and Iteration:
  • Work closely with writers, artists, and designers to ensure narrative elements align with the overall creative vision of the project.
  • Provide feedback on character designs, environments, and other creative assets to ensure consistency with the narrative.
  • Participate in playtesting or feedback sessions to refine the narrative and world-building based on user input.
  • Documentation and Research:
  • Assist in maintaining a cohesive narrative document that outlines the key elements of the world and story.
  • Conduct research on relevant topics to support and inform world-building and character development.

Experience:

  • Junior or Senior or Graduate Student at the start of the program. (e.g., Creative Writing, English Literature, Narrative Design, Media Arts)
  • Available to work in a Cosm Office (hybrid).
  • Available to work 20 hours per week during the defined Intern period.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Interest in immersive technology and content.
  • Passion for Storytelling: Possess a strong desire to create engaging narratives and a deep understanding of story structure, character development, and world-building.
  • Strong Writing Skills: Ability to write compelling prose, dialogue, and narrative documents with clarity and conciseness.
  • Conceptual Thinking: Possess a strong visual imagination and the ability to translate narrative concepts into clear visual representations.
  • Concept Art Portfolio: Showcase a portfolio of original concept art or strong visual storytelling skills (e.g., storyboards, mood boards). This demonstrates your ability to represent your narrative ideas visually.

The hourly pay for this position is $16.90/hr.
