SALARY: $62,653.00 - $76,395.00 Annually

CLASS DESCRIPTION

The Circuit Court for Baltimore City is seeking a Licensed Social Worker or Professional Counselor for the Forensic Alternative Services Team (FAST) Program. Through the Medical Services Division of the Circuit Court, FAST is an early diversion program that serves adults diagnosed with psychiatric illness and who are also involved in the Baltimore City criminal justice system. The goal of this program is to prevent/reduce incarceration and recidivism by connecting these individuals to community behavioral healthcare. Clinicians provide thorough clinical assessments for the determination of behavioral health needs, develop comprehensive mental health plans of care, and link individuals to community-based service providers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Use clinical knowledge and skill to conduct forensic psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments Formulate diagnostic impressions using the DSM-5
  • Develop individualized, community-based treatment plans according to consumer need.
  • Assess appropriateness of prescribed treatment interventions
  • Provide verbal/written recommendations for treatment (or treatment enhancements) to judiciary members, attorneys, and/or other stakeholders.
  • Offer clinical guidance to agents within the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (e.g., probation agent) regarding behavioral health disorders and their potential impact on consumer compliance, amenability, behavior, and communication.
  • Liaise with institutional and community providers regarding consumer behavior and treatment adherence.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Have a master’s degree from an accredited college or university.

AND

EXPERIENCE: Have experience in clinical assessment, diagnostic formulation, and resource connection.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND CERTIFICATIONS: Active/current licensure by the State of Maryland Department of Health as an LMSW, LCSW-C, or LCPC.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to work independently.
  • Must be willing to work within correctional and judicial settings.
  • Ability to travel within Baltimore City limits.
  • Knowledge of virtual communication tools such as Zoom.

This is a full-time permanent position with benefits.
