Responsibilities:

The New School is partnering with The Dream Machine Experience at Lincoln Center to create a unique summer internship experience for students interested in immersive storytelling with AI and VR.The interest in storytelling can also embrace theatrical narratives and embodied practices. Curated by the incomparable Nona Hendryx, The Dream Machine is a brand-new experience that pushes the boundaries of art and technology opening in June 2024. A Lincoln Center commission and part of Summer for the City, The Dream Machine Experience offers three distinct segments in multiple spaces, combining the physical and digital worlds through Afrofuturist art, music, and storytelling. This opportunity is sponsored by the Provost’s Office and the Innovation Center at The New School.

Internship Dates: May 20 – June 30, 2024. Participants should be prepared to commit up to 10 hours per week from May 20 – 30 for training and approximately 30 – 34 hours per week (Wednesday – Saturday or Sunday) from June 3 – 30 to the program, which will include some weekend work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide guests through immersive VR experiences, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring a seamless and unforgettable visit for all visitors. Skills Needed:
  • Welcome and assist guests during onboarding and offboarding
  • Maintain and charge VR headsets
  • Answer guest inquiries about the VR projects

WORK MODE

  • In-person Position – Employees in this position are expected to work on-site during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely.

HOURLY RATE

$20 per hour

  • Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with visitors
  • Quick problem-solving skills for technical issues
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
  • Proactive approach to handling challenges
