Job Summary:

Assist in the following areas: validation and report writing of process improvements and development of new processes to improve efficiencies. Performing engineering tests and qualifications of equipment, and

supporting in-house manufacturing/engineering projects and processes. Provide production support by developing and validating fixtures and processes.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

  • Help develop and execute Installation, Operational, and Process Qualifications
  • Develop work instructions, equipment build lists, and engineering documentation
  • Perform preventative maintenance and calibration on manufacturing equipment
  • Analyze malfunctions and perform routine and moderately complex repairs on manufacturing equipment
  • Perform engineering tests on manufacturing equipment
  • Track engineering studies through manufacturing
  • Help with installation, debug and validation of process equipment
  • Work with vendors on new equipment
  • Qualify tooling
  • Assist technicians with maintaining PM/Calibration system
  • Collaborate and execute in-house manufacturing/engineering projects.
  • Help design/improve assembly line layouts and flow; Explore and suggest changes to reduce cost in maintenance processes, and / or manufacturing processes.

  • Essential Job Functions: To be monitored and accountable to Engineering Manager and Engineer
  • Internship Projects: Z-Cut Lathing, Plastic Arbors – Phase 2, Center Thickness at Front Surface
  • As business needs dictate, may work extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks to include mandatory overtime.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Process Engineering
  • CAD – Solidworks preferred
  • Analysis – Ability to analyze data and interpret outcomes
  • Problem solving – adept at identifying problems and finding solutions
  • Detail oriented 
  • Ability to read and understand highly technical material.
  • Technical – cGMP and 
  • MS Office - Intermediate skill in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Advanced preferred.
  • Collaboration – ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Time Management – Well organized with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently and meet deadlines Communication Skills – Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Documentation –Good documentation practices and data collection

  • Willing to report to work in the Carlsbad, CA office.
  • This is a paid internship
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Prolonged sitting in front of a computer
  • Lathing environment, safety glasses required

Experience:

  • Not required, but prior Internship experience is a plus.

Education:

  • Current college student, majoring in Engineering or equivalent, entering their junior or senior year . 
  • 3.5 GPA or higher
