Under the general direction of the Manager Identity and Software Solutions, and in conjunction with Student Housing and external organizations, when necessary, the Application Systems Analyst oversees the information systems required to manage the University's student housing operation and to provide technology-based services to resident students.

Position Specific Accountabilities

  • Ensure integrity of student housing records and resident data in university and departmental data systems and interfaces, including the University’s student record system (Banner), systems related to campus card access (Onity, Transact/Atrium and Lenel/Genetec), and Housing system (StarRez).
  • Proficient in managing and analyzing StarRez, coordinating upgrades, and efficiency analysis. Conduct detailed application analysis to identify areas for optimization and enhancement. Provide strategic IT guidance to enhance operational efficiency. Provide training, support, and troubleshooting assistance to staff on StarRez and other software tools that used within the student housing department and university. Serve as primary liaison to StarRez for new projects, issues, concerns and upgrades as they concern LMU’s usage for StarRez.
  • Oversee the exploration, selection, implementation, and upgrades of all third-party software associated with Student Housing. Ensure third-party and in-house developed systems achieve optimal integration with all other university systems.
  • Liaison on behalf of the Student Housing Office between the different IT groups (for example, IT Infrastructure, ITS RMP, and Information Security). Coordinate IT service response so that issues are promptly resolved and provide efficient support for IT-related queries.
  • Assist with access support and operations in collaboration with Assignments, Facilities team and other University Departments for Student Housing.
  • Oversee the procurement, installation, and maintenance of encoders for the Student Housing Office in conjunction with ITS. Perform regular hardware audits for functionality and inventory management for all departmental encoders.
  • Ensure that appropriate, accurate and reliable information regarding housing (occupancy, billing, meal plan assignments, bed configuration, access to residences, etc.) and resident data are readily accessible to residents, staff, and other University departments and constituencies through the maintenance, development and enhancement of web applications, data selection and reporting systems, local data backup processes, interfaces, and contingencies for emergency data retrieval.
  • Write code for new systems and the enhancement of existing systems. Diagnose and correct system problems. Support and enhance residential student life experience and departmental operations with a thorough understanding of departmental processes and systems, their current state, and their future roadmap.
  • Develop and maintain information management systems to enhance the department's level of service and efficiency of business operations. Consult with users to develop requirements and specifications. Identify and analyze objectives for features, functionality, input and output requirements and architecture. 
  • Maintain and continually enhance the overall web presence of the Student Housing Office including the creation, implementation, and maintenance of web-based services.
  • Assess and recommend resident technology needs within the student housing facilities. Institute programs, policies, and services to promote sound computing habits and to create a technology environment that supports out-of-the-classroom learning and enriches the on-campus living experience. Coordinate technology support provided to resident students.
  • Represent LMU within technical communities and at professional organizations or associations, serve on committees as required. Serve as the primary liaison with Information Technology Services.
  • Monitor effectiveness of systems to the changing needs of the University. Keep aware of current technology trends (e.g. Cloud-based solutions) and evaluate the applicability of new systems to the needs of the University.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requisite Qualifications

  • Typically a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
  • Minimum three years information system and data maintenance experience.
  • Preferred experience working in a higher education using software such as Banner, Transact/Atrium, Onity/Integra, and Lenel/Genetec is preferred.
  • Knowledge of IT systems, network management, and software application integration and support.
  • Proficiency in cloud-based software like StarRez or similar housing management software. Experience with StarRez data blocks highly desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SQL on MS SQL Server, and ASP.NET . Familiarity of Git (SCM), Talend (ETL), Javascript and Argos is a plus.
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills, evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
  • Excellent customer service, problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills. Previous experience with translating business needs/requirements/analysis into workflows and functional specifications.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with various employees, vendors, stakeholders, and other interested personnel. Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.

Salary range

$27.50 - $31.75 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
