ECS is seeking a Data Scientist to work in our Washington DC office.

Job Description:

ECS requires a Data Scientist to support the Veterans Health Administration’s Office of Health Informatics (OHI) and Office of Health Transformation (OHT) by providing leaders meaningful data reports to enable sound decisions. The Data Scientist will exhibit a well-recognized ability to rapidly engage and leverage knowledge of VHA program operations and data sets to facilitate informed decision-making. This includes measuring success, outcomes, and the improvement of programs and projects. To assist with multiple, concurrent transformation initiatives, the Data Scientist will plan and organize their work, prioritize projects, and deliver and monitor business results. The Data Scientist will work with clients to analyze and define the business processes and documentation that needs an IT solution.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree, in mathematics, statistics, computer science, information technology, or closely related field.
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 8
  • Experience with data sourcing, data analysis and data integration.
  • Perform technical analytical studies of business processes and build reports and Data visualization tools in SharePoint, Excel, PowerBI, PowerApps, and/or Tableau.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and focus on delivering results in a fast-paced work environment.
  • carrying out preprocessing of structured and unstructured data.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with elements of computer programming in SQL and other languages, database architecture, and clinical informatics, with data mining or extracting usable data from valuable data sources.
  • Experience with health system operations and client management. 
  • Familiarity with Veterans health administration data storage systems, such as VSSC and Corporate Data Warehouse.
  • Three years of professional business experience developing PowerBi/Tableau-like business intelligence applications, dashboards, and data models.
  • Support end-to-end lifecycle of project, set the scope of the collaboration, and lead data collection, coordination, and reporting.
  • Communicate in an organized and knowledgeable manner in written and verbal formats including presenting to senior executives, develop lasting relationships, deliver clear requests for information and communicating potential conflicts.
  • Work with highly complex health care system-level databases and in secure data warehouses to provide efficient, integrated automation, governance, and develop meaningful reports.
  • Enhance data collection procedures to include all relevant information for developing analytic systems.
