About the Opportunity

For this entry level position into the rail industry, prior train control system experience is not required. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn about train running operations and train control system support. The successful candidate will be able to readily learn how to perform testing, enhancement, maintenance, and reactive support jobs for the ARTC network and become proficient in the integrity and functionality of operational technology control and monitoring systems.

  • Assist in providing reactive support services on technical faults in train control systems, telemetry and related technologies
  • Assist in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of all control centre based control systems equipment and systems by carrying out routine maintenance and inspection procedures
  • Assist with managing the operational control systems, monitoring systems and telemetry systems configuration data
  • Undertake analysis of control system failures, system logs and other system performance data
  • Assist in attending to emergency scenarios, when required, within relevant control centres and other areas as needed within the Response Time targets agreed with ARTC
  • Development of documentation and work instructions to assist with learning and process improvement

About You

To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Cert IV or higher in an electronics or technology-based discipline
  • Experience with Windows Servers/Workstations, remote connection applications and system/network monitoring applications
  • Local and remote system analysis and problem resolution skills
  • Well-developed inter-personal, oral and written communication skills
  • Current Drivers Licence
