Job Description:

Principal Accountabilities

  • Directs and coordinates the movement of all inbound, outbound, and foreign to foreign freight movement. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures allowing this individual to provide support to internal and external customers in determining cost-effective, timely and compliant freight movements.
  • Responsible for quoting freight charges utilizing preferred freight vendors. Must have comprehension of freight variables (class, weight, dimensional weights, special considerations).
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to determine best methods of freight movement to assist Trade in making decisions during the order acquisition process. Provide solutions to complex logistics transactions.
  • Provides outbound in transit tracking for internal and external customers.
  • Works with freight vendors in arranging freight movement and rearrange in transit to satisfy customer needs.
  • Coordinates the movement of drop shipments, and processes the receiving and shipping information through the ERP system.
  • Approves orders submitted for Export Compliance. Has extensive knowledge of US Export Regulations requirements . Classifies products (HTN and ECCN if not provided) in accordance to US export regulations.
  • Instructs freight forwarders through the import process, including classifications and additional forms required by US Customs. Relies on extensive experience and knowledge to determine additional requirements in accordance with US import regulations. Works with purchasing to obtain necessary product specification to determine appropriate classifications.
  • Works with Management and freight carriers to ensure that all freight charges are complete and accurate and as quoted by the carriers in their transactional quotes and negotiated tariffs.
  • Files claims for damages/loss of material in transit against responsible freight vendor as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Complexity

  • Has developed knowledge and skills through formal training or considerable work experience
  • Entry level often for those with work experience in the skill area
  • Works within established procedures with a moderate degree of supervision
  • Identifies the problem and all relevant issues in straightforward situations, assesses each using standard procedures and makes sound decisions

Experience / Education

Typically requires a 2 year degree and 2–4 years of experience or High school graduate with equivalent related experience. May require specific certifications.
