Overview

Under limited or no supervision, this position works closely with engineering and manufacturing to design, build, and/or rework electrical and mechanical test equipment, perform test calibrations, troubleshoot product issues, and provide

technical expertise on safety and regulatory issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates schematic templates to map outputs, designs pass/fail test parameters, builds test devices, and reports on findings.
  • Uses complex tools and equipment to determine testing methodology and ensures correct measuring by developing mathematical equations, writing programming code to theorize test results, and applying that logic to tests. Works with engineering departments to establish test requirements of new products, ensuring established parameters are effectively met.
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the department to design, build, and validate new test fixtures or upgrade existing test fixtures. Creates and maintains all required documentation.
  • Serves as a resource to other departments to provide input on the use of various hardware and software.
  • Directs the work of the Jr. QA Test Tech and may lead departmental projects requiring creation of test fixtures for new products prior to the manufacturing process.
  • Makes recommendations for the improvement of product testing and fixture design and acts as a facilitator to solicit and enhance the recommendations of Manufacturing Engineers, Supervisors, Unit Specialists and Operators.
  • Remains current with all phases of technology connected to the test and calibration needs of A-dec products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Generally requires 1-2 years of experience as a calibration technician along with knowledge of and experience working with basic metrology and measurement and test equipment.
  • Ability to perform calibrations while maintaining quality standards, efficiency, and accuracy. Knowledge and understanding of electrical and/or mechanical design and computer programming (LabVIEW/programmable logic controller).
  • Ability to interpret and understand electrical and mechanical specifications from drawings, data sheets, and reference manuals.
  • Must have strong communication skills, both oral and written, in order to present technical information clearly and concisely to develop effective records, procedures, and reports.
  • Must have a strong understanding of and experience working with databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software. Visual acuity and manual dexterity are required for the inspection, repair, and building of test fixtures and subcomponents.
  • Ability to solder to 0.1” centers between solder points.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of regulatory standards is preferred
