Job Summary

To serve as a Firefighter assigned to drive and operate firefighting vehicles of significant complexity engaged in airfield, structural firefighting, crash-rescue, and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Operations and assist in reducing and/or eliminating potential fire hazards and reacting to the presence or potential releases of hazardous materials as a first responder to protect persons, property, or the environment. 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate fire department apparatus.
  • Conduct hazard assessments and initial incident analysis.
  • Drive and operate firefighting vehicles.
  • Perform crash-rescue and structural firefighting.
  • Conduct personnel rescue and provide first aid.
  • Maintain firefighting equipment and facilities.
  • Respond to fire alarms and combat fires.
  • Perform equipment checks and maintenance.
  • Provide emergency medical care.
  • Handle aircraft-related tasks.
  • Conduct pre-fire planning.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in physical fitness programs.
  • Use provided safety equipment and clothing.
  • Work in adverse conditions.
  • Possess knowledge of hazardous materials and emergency procedures.
  • Understand firefighting vehicle operations and hydraulics.
  • Demonstrate basic building and aircraft design knowledge.
  • Operate communications equipment.
  • Maintain effective communication skills.
  • Perform duties in various settings.
  • Handle heavy physical tasks.
  • Work under adverse conditions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Turkish citizenship required.
  • English proficiency (Level III).
  • High School Diploma.
  • Valid driver’s license (minimum “C” Class).
  • Completed Turkish Military obligation.
  • Ability to obtain Turkish security clearance.
  • Obtain required DOD, Pro-Board, or ISAC certifications:
  • Firefighter II
  • Airport Firefighter
  • Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Operations
  • Apparatus Driver Operator certifications for various vehicles
  • CPR and Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certifications
  • Munitions Fire Fighting course
  • Minimum 3 years firefighting experience, including 2 years in aircraft crash, fire, and rescue services.
  • Knowledge of fire suppression, rescue techniques, and operation of fire equipment.
  • Understanding of aircraft fuel and weapons characteristics.
  • Ability to communicate in English via radio transmissions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Telecommunicator I/II
