Description

The estimated salary range for this role based in California is between $118,254 and $170,400 annually. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieuxs bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidates experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Research & Development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning, with a passion for applying these skills to solve complex problems in medical diagnostics. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will lead projects to develop and implement advanced analytics solutions that improve the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of our diagnostic devices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product development, and clinical affairs, to ensure our data-driven solutions meet the highest standards of quality and innovation.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Data Analysis & Modeling: Develop predictive models and machine learning algorithms to enhance the performance of diagnostic devices. Conduct deep data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and insights that can inform product development and clinical strategies.
  • Projects: Contribute to data science projects from conception to deployment, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements, and providing project estimates and team makeup. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data science solutions into product development and clinical trials.
  • Innovation & Research: Stay abreast of the latest developments in data science, machine learning, and medical diagnostics. Under supervision, explore new methodologies and technologies that can drive innovation in diagnostic solutions.
  • Reporting & Presentations: Assist in authoring comprehensive reports that succinctly communicate findings, trends, and insights from complex datasets. Deliver compelling presentations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding and actionable recommendations to guide decision-making in product development and clinical strategy.
  • Data Strategy: Contribute to the development and implementation of data strategies that ensure the scalability, security, and integrity of our data processes and architectures.
  • Mentoring & Collaboration: Mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of learning and innovation. Serve as a data science resource within the organization, facilitating knowledge sharing and collaboration across teams.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Masters or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • Requiring a minimum of a Masters degree +7yrs of experience or a Ph.D +5yrs of experience.
  • Expertise in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning algorithms.
  • Expert proficiency in Python programming and software engineering principles.
  • Experience with creating data visualizations using tools like MatplotLib, Seaborn, Tableau or Power BI.
  • A strong understanding of FDA regulatory standards and compliance requirements. Prior experience with IVD systems development is a strong plus.
  • Experience in Unit Testing preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to tackle complex challenges in innovative ways.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced, research-oriented group with several ongoing concurrent projects
  • Full fluency (verbal and written) of the English language is a must.
