JOB DETAILS:

Position Summary

The media and communications coordinator is a full-time position within University Communications and Marketing (UCM), responsible for producing content used to market the university and to advance the mission and goals for the UWSP Growth Initiative. This position works primarily with UW-Stevens Point Communications and Marketing, Admissions and marketing and communication specialists throughout the university in addition to various departments. This position reports to the director of Strategic Communications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor¿s degree in English, media relations/journalism, public relations, communications or related area
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including AP Style
  • Curiosity and a bias for innovation, analytical thinker with ability to grasp new technology
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate in a way that supports institution change with team members, subject matter experts and senior leaders with the highest degree of professionalism
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently or in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Sensitivity to diversity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher education communication, admissions and/or higher education marketing experience 
  • Experience working with media or as a journalist
  • Experience in podcasting
  • Experience in photography and/or videography

Terms of Employment

This is an Academic Staff annual appointment, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment. University sponsorship is not available for this position.
