WHO YOU ARE:

Seeking an IT professional to support Linux servers, AWS cloud, and application frameworks. The ideal candidate must be skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems; in solving problems; in scheduling, testing, installing, and implementing system software; and in troubleshooting computer systems. Communicate in a professional, customer-focused manner. Collaborate with other IT teams to accomplish work.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Linux Systems Administrator (Systems Administrator III-V) performs complex to advanced (senior-level) systems administration work. Work involves system configuration based on procedures and user requirements, resolving system and customer issues, system planning, and maintaining reliable system operation. Maintains a reliable, predictable work schedule. May be called upon to work outside of normal business hours to sustain operations or complete urgent assignments. Works under general to minimal supervision, with moderate to considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:

  • Perform systems analysis and administration work supporting agency applications and associated programs within IT.
  • Ensure the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of agency's application server systems.
  • Analyze OS operation and applications on Linux platforms.
  • Maintain and support hardware and software configurations and enhancements.
  • Works on multiple concurrent projects/tasks and meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain, analyze, and define disaster recovery procedures and participates in disaster recovery tests and actual recoveries as needed.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation (2-3 weeks per year), to respond to major incidents impacting production systems on weekends and after hours.
  • May plan, assign, and direct the work of others in support of the Agency application and server systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and agency laws, rules, policies, and procedures including IT Handbook and SOPs that govern TWC IT.
  • Contribute to teamwork and communicate effectively.
  • Promote an image of IT excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and as required to maintain operations.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:

  • Three years or more experience with Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with supporting application frameworks and databases.
  • Experience with scripting: shell, Perl, etc.
  • Experience with AWS cloud platform.
  • Linux Certification.
  • Vendor management skills and change control background.
  • Knowledge of technology trends as it applies to day-to-day operations.
  • Advanced troubleshooting abilities, requirements gathering, procedure writing, and technical documentation writing.
  • Ability to work independently while understanding the need for communicating and coordinating work efforts with others.

YOU QUALIFY WITH:

  • Systems Administrator III: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science, management information systems or a related field plus one year of experience in systems administration work.
  • Systems Administrator IV: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science, management information systems or a related field plus two years of experience in systems administration work.
  • Systems Administrator V: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science, management information systems or a related field plus three years of experience in systems administration work.
  • All Levels: Education and experience may be substituted for one another.
