Your Opportunity:

Traka Technicians are responsible for ensuring proper and timely installation of systems and devices for Traka Clients. A Traka Technician often performs several tasks within a single service call and handles all aspects of the installation process. Inspecting, analyzing, and troubleshooting systems and equipment. Reading repair manuals and liaising with other professionals. Running tests and interpreting results to make effective recommendations. This is a specialized role that requires interaction with a range of internal and external stakeholders with the ultimate result to drive maximum productivity and client centricity.

You will report to the Installation Manager – Traka Africa.

The main duties of this role are inclusive of, but not limited to:

Installation:

  • Installation and replacement of Traka Equipment and peripherals
  • Setup, assemble, test and configure Traka Hardware and Software
  • Following direction of the Project / Installation Manager
  • Maintenance and Submission of accurate paperwork and documentation
  • Customer communication throughout the job
  • Installing conduit, coring, or trenching
  • Installing/pulling cable and wire
  • Mounting panels, field devices, computers, power supplies
  • Programming, set-up, and testing systems
  • Testing and inspections
  • Safe operation of basic electrical reticulation
  • Understanding wire crimping and installing basic plugs
  • Basic use of hand tools

Support:

  • Email Support
  • Telephone support
  • Remote support
  • Support logging on support site
  • Maintenance of all Traka solutions, Key management systems and Lockers
  • Basic understanding of Traka integrations
  • Fault finding and problem solving
  • Proven experience as a low voltage technician or similar role
  • Experience with LAN/WAN networks
  • Thorough knowledge of computer systems and IT components
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Exceptional organizing and time-management skills
  • 2+ years’ experience in computer networks and systems maintenance.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+) will be an advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good problem-solving skills.

Software

  • Basic understanding of Windows based computers and software
  • Basic understanding of what a database is
  • Basic understanding of networking
  • Understanding how to use a search engine
  • SQL Db experience and knowledge
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Proficient in database programming and software installation

Professional Qualifications:

Essential

  • Training in various electronic solutions
  • Strong Understanding of low voltage electronics
  • Fluency in oral and written English

Desirable

  • National Certificate; Electrical Engineering N4 – N6 , IT, or business.

Experience:

Essential

  • 2-5 years’ solid industry experience with a proven record of a technical background with installation and support.
  • Strong technical knowledge in a solutions environment is required.
  • Ability to develop technical specifications for new projects

Preferred:

  • Experience in Key management and Asset Management solutions
