The Red Hat Legal team is looking for a Privacy & AI lawyer to join us in Raleigh, North Carolina. In this role, you will join Red Hat’s Legal Compliance & Ethics Team and the Global Privacy Program as a key and trusted member of a growing organization. You will interact directly with global business teams and Red Hat associates, as well as Red Hat’s customers, vendors and partners. You will need to be capable of managing multiple matters at the same time and providing privacy, data governance and AI related advice and guidance to an entrepreneurial and rapidly expanding organization across geographies, cultures, and functions. You will have the opportunity to gain meaningful experience with Red Hat's global business and will quickly become an integral member of the Legal team and Global Privacy Program. As a member of the Legal team and the Global Privacy Program, you will join a global team of best-in-class legal and privacy professionals to advance and support Red Hat’s growth strategy and governance around the globe. 

What you will do

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and ongoing management of compliance and risk mitigation strategies relating to existing and emerging privacy and AI laws and regulations
  • Oversee and mature policies and processes related to privacy, data governance and AI compliance, such as drafting privacy notices, advising on risk assessments and assisting the Global Privacy Program with the implementation of new laws and regulations in this space
  • Provide support, including contract drafting and negotiation, on privacy and AI issues for Red Hat teams engaged in the negotiation of contracts with customers, partners and vendors
  • Advise teams responsible for the development, sale, and marketing of Red Hat products and services on privacy and AI compliance measures 
  • Develop a solid network of relationships inside and outside of the organization to support the objectives of the Legal Compliance Team and Global Privacy Program

What you will bring

  • Qualified to practice law and in good standing in at least one jurisdiction
  • 4+ years of legal experience in a technology company or advising technology clients in the area of privacy, data governance, AI and similar compliance issues 
  • Pragmatic and with proven experience interpreting privacy laws and similar regulatory requirements and implementing programs or solutions to meet such requirements 
  • Excellent drafting skills and comfortable analyzing and advising on complex and novel legal issues
  • Highly organized, self motivated and capable of driving challenging projects forward
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable dealing with all levels of our organization, and ability to influence and use others in a growing, global business
  • International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) certifications like CIPM, CIPP/US, CIPP/E are a plus

The salary range for this position is $131,810 - $217,490. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
