Job Summary

The Regional Sales Director is responsible for generating new orders for the Company’s products, systems and services to meet the regions sales goals by leading the sales effort of one or more Area Sales Managers and/or Independent Sales Representatives, as well as Field Application Engineering team member(s) for an assigned geography. Leadership of a large team is vital, as well as development of customer engagement plans & best practices. Development of a regional specific sales strategy will be key to define the region’s growth potential by respective sales territory within.

Job Description

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide sales leadership and supervision to Area Sales Managers, and Independent Sales Representatives (if applicable) who are involved in selling the company’s products in the region. This includes management of distribution, as well as direct (OEM) accounts, within the region.
  • Make regularly scheduled joint sales calls with the sales force to assess opportunities, win significant projects, evaluate performance and provide guidance to respective sales personnel.
  • Develop and execute a regional sales plan that meets or exceeds the regions order objectives and grows market share.
  • Develop Monthly Business Plan Review (MBR) presentations to VP of Sales, documenting progress on annual goals, sales pipelines, customer activity KPIs, and help needed to close new business.
  • Meet regularly with respective regional sales team, providing Company information updates and review progress updates across the team
  • Ensure that all sales personnel prepare annual sales plans, including forecasts within assigned territory and strategies to achieve order growth.
  • Demonstrate command of a structured selling process and coach the use of the company’s defined sales processes use by the regional sales team to effectively and efficiently win new business.
  • Establish and enforce customer visitation KPI’s by regional sales team, including Regional Director, Area Sales Manager, and Field Applications Engineer(s)
  • Prepare monthly updates to prospect pipelines and monthly forecasts. Develop and implement a regional strategy for sales prospecting, including development of key (large) account target lists by region/sub-region, and track progress on winning and closing commercial deals.
  • Develop a proficiency with the company’s CRM system and demonstrate that regularly to sales team as the regional champion, to help them promote a clear picture of their sales opportunities, maintaining responsibility for housekeeping of data to ensure pipeline forecast viability.
  • Keep current on all the companys products from the following standpoints: technical, applications, pricing and selling benefits, including ability to sell the overall Nidec-Control Techniques strength of brand to the marketplace.
  • Develop knowledge of competitive products, strategy for competing and keep marketing and management abreast of all competitive activity and market development in the region.
  • Recommend changes and improvements in business and commercial policies. Provide input on new product development and market penetration strategies.
  • Follow and make sure the regional sales team follows the companys policies and procedures. 
  • Keep abreast of distributor activity in region. Ensure that your sales team reviews the performance quarterly with each distributor and develop mutually agreed upon order goals, target account and promotional objectives for the coming year.
  • Keep expenses in line with the productivity and sales plan for the region.

Additional Job Details

Education and Qualifications

  • Four year college degree required, technical engineering degree preferred (BSEE, BSEET, BSME, BSMET) or equivalent job experience
  • A minimum of three years of sales management experience
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must have experience in and be comfortable with creating and giving technical presentations
  • English is required
