Job Summary :

As a Trauma Nurse Specialist in our Level I Trauma Center - Emergency Department, you will play a critical role in delivering specialized care to trauma patients. You will work in a Level I trauma center, providing expert clinical care, education, and leadership within our dynamic trauma care team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, triage, and provide advanced nursing care to trauma patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary trauma team, including physicians, surgeons, and respiratory therapists, to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Act as a leader during trauma activations, facilitating communication and coordinating interventions.
  • Develop and deliver trauma education programs for ED staff, including trauma simulations and drills.
  • Participate in trauma research initiatives and quality improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Advocate for the needs of trauma patients and their families, providing emotional support and guidance.

Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia, or DC endorsement eligible
  • Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department nursing experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Certification in TNCC or ATCN is required.
  • Obtain TNCC or ATCN instructor status within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to ethical and legal standards in trauma care.
