Job Description

The NBCUniversal Team is looking for a Vice President of Facilities Operations & Engineering that will be responsible for leading facilities strategy, highly efficient operations, insuring a relentless customer focus, along with overseeing a large and complex workforce covering NBC Universal’s West Coast and Atlanta Facilities. Your focus is on building and leading a high performance team of facility professionals across multiple locations along with overseeing highly effective operations,. You will be a seasoned and savvy leader able to operate at multiple levels and bring in a forward-thinking Operations expertise.

What You’ll Do:

  • Communicate efficiently with clients, executives, and major stakeholders to insure needs are proactively gathered, expectations properly set and met, and that priorities and dollars are balanced across the larger Studio Operations organization.
  • Lead a team of geographically dispersed site leaders who each locally manage all necessary trades needed to maintain the facilities, this includes teams of inside and outside mechanics, electricians (including high-voltage), plumbers, maintenance crews and other facility services through consistent practices and solutions.
  • Coach and develop team members, insuring the ‘hands on’ teams are positioned for success in managing their tools, equipment, software and responses.
  • Design and plan programs which support a high-performance network of mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure consistently across the portfolio.
  • Through leveraging the team of site leaders, build and improve best practice tools and processes which build near and long term operational and lifecycle maintenance strategies which anticipate needs, prioritize and maximize investment dollars and drive the best possible operational performance. 
  • Oversee each site leader as they collectively administer a large operational expense and capital budget.
  • Be responsible for and champion safe work practices on all critical systems and MEP equipment.
  • Work to develop consistent practices and solutions across multiple sites including NBCUniversal, 10 Universal City Plaza, DreamWorks, Playa Vista, Assembly Studios in Atlanta and other smaller sites
  • Seamlessly integrate teams and work processes with colleague functions including Design & Construction, Capital Planning, Office & Space Planning Services, Corporate Services, EHS, Emergency Services, Security, Finance, Enterprise Engineering, Global Real Estate, and other key partners.
  • Coach team in a metrics-driven culture to leverage performance reporting tools which track metrics and indicate how initiatives are delivering against anticipated benefits
  • Be a critical member of the incident response team, accessible 24x7 for power outages, equipment failure or other matters requiring immediate attention.
  • Review vendor proposals, contracts, and preventative maintenance programs, along with other critical contracted services, to help insure the best possible service and programs are in place consistently across the portfolio.
  • Leverage thoughtful reporting and presentations which demonstrate results and earn executive buy-in and alignment around near and long term projects and initiatives.
  • Creating and implementing standards, policy, best practices, and SOPs.

What You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 15 years of experience leading complex facility operations and the internal and external team’s that deliver them in a relevant industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience exhibiting strong principles of environmental stewardship, including energy and water use, recycling, air quality, etc. in a Facilities leadership role 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience showcasing expertise in technical aspects of facilities management including MEP infrastructure, office interiors and general operations.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading other leaders, mentoring, developing, coaching; making the most of every headcount asset
  • Proven expertise in contracting, with an ability to identify and negotiate complex terms and language in construction and vendor contracts.
  • Proven success in navigating through very complex situations and personalities.

What Would Make You a Stand-out:

  • Experience in other areas of Facilities Management which help give broad understanding of integrated work processes and drive strong partner relationships.
  • LEED accreditation is a plus.
  • Master’s degree or advance industry certifications desirable.
  • Able to organize, prioritize and execute numerous complex projects in parallel.
  • Highly effective in building exec-ready and compelling business case material leveraging advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from the Universal City, CA Lot.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
