Job Responsibilities

Manages the environmental, industrial, health and safety regulation compliance for one or multiple facilities. Oversees the development, planning, and implementation of environmental, health and safety policies; develops procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness and injury prevention, and building safety) used throughout the company. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environmental safety and handles all contact with appropriate agencies. Oversees licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal and monitors waste handling. Develops and oversees company training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, lab/plant inspection, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety. May be the point of contact for emergency personnel and manage workers compensation program administration. Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

  • Responsible for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) performance for Lam Research Manufacturing Korea (LMK). 
  • Develops and leads a Proactive, Collaborative, and Engaging Safety Culture. Must partner with all Local/global functions to drive alignment and continuity. 
  • Must commit to compliance with Lam internal EHS Standards that may be more stringent than country or local agency regulations. Understands that implementation of Lam EHS standards is crucial for safety culture. 
  • Knowledge of Korean regulations pertaining to occupational safety, incident reporting, industrial hygiene, and other environmental and safety (KOSHA) aspects. 
  • Must be able to establish, develop and implement EHS management systems based on ISO14001 and ISO45001.
  • Experience developing and implementing programs for BCP, emergency response preparedness and Firefighting facility management.
  • Liaise with government agencies on EHS issues.
  • Evaluates and uses performance metrics to drive goals, objectives, and process changes to create continuous improvement. 
  • Develops preventative controls to reduce risk of injury, property damage, and reduce risk to the company. 
  • Leads EHS incident investigations and investigation committees. 

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Uses appropriate communications and escalations to inform upper management of all injuries and emergency incidents, including updates until root cause, corrective & preventive actions are identified and implemented. 
  • Performs hazard assessments for new equipment, space, processes, and activities. 
  • Employs existing knowledge with regulatory and industry standards for exposure thresholds and understands when and how to implement monitoring plans based on activities conducted by employees. 
  • Reviews requests to use new chemicals or changes in chemical use and provide guidance on required PPE, risk reduction, and impacts to regulatory requirements. 
  • Must be able to lead emergency response events, and sustaining activities including emergency response plans, preparedness measures, training, drills, and supply procurement. Responsible for maintaining Incident management/BCP program and fully staffed and trained Emergency Response Team. 
  • Coordinates ergonomic assessments. 
  • Develops and conducts routine site inspections to ensure conformance and identify risks. 
  • Develops and delivers required EHS Training. 
  • Monitors and manages some contractor safety programs. 
  • Manages direct reports, and relationships with indirect EHS stakeholder colleagues. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 20 years of EHS and people management experience/skills
  • A minimum of one government issued professional EHS certification. Examples: Engineer of Industrial Safety Management, Engineer of Safety Management, Engineer Industrial Hygiene Management, 
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, or Environmental Engineering
  • Fluent in English. 
  • ISO Auditor for 14001 or 45001.
  • Comfortable working in an international company with diverse colleagues. 
  • Able to adapt to diverse working conditions and be open and receptive to a fast-paced work environment. 
  • Very knowledgeable of environmental, health and safety regulations and requirements in Korea. Expert knowledge of SAPA and KOSHA. 
  • Has technical experience in the environmental health and safety profession, preferably within product safety in semiconductor (or similar) field and EHS management experience. 
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to respond to and resolve complex challenges under pressure. 
  • Exceptional root cause and corrective/preventive action development skills. 
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills and demonstrated expertise in a formal problem-solving methodology.
