Stonington Institute is committed to providing quality substance abuse treatment options for adults in Southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas. We offer medical detox as well as residential addictions treatment for active duty and retired military service members in our North Stonington location. Our clinic in Groton, CT, offers partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment, and is conveniently located across the street from The Inn at Trails Corner, a new 180 bed dormitory-style sober community for adult men and women who attend our outpatient day treatment programs. The Inn offers overnight accommodations, full-meal service, indoor/outdoor recreation options, a workout room, and computer center for all clients. We accept private insurance, state-funded plans and self-pay arrangements.

Job Summary:

The Licensed Clinician functions as the clinical expert in planning and conducting treatment for clients in the Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient Programs (PHP/IOP) at Stonington Institute. Treatment will consist of a combination of individual and group counseling, as well as educational group sessions planned to meet the individual needs of each client. The Licensed Clinician is responsible for developing the curriculum for educational programs that will be included in the treatment program for PHP/IOP clients. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide evaluation, client/family education, counseling, discharge planning, referral, case management, and follow-up for assigned caseload.
  • Develop treatment plans for each assigned client; update plans as needed.
  • Complete bio-psycho-social assessments as needed.
  • Provide communication and feedback to other team members as part of joint treatment planning, UR, and client management.
  • Provide individual1 counseling and groups focused on substance abuse counseling.
  • Develops curriculum for and provides education components of program based in areas of specialty, client needs, and community history.
  • Acts as spokesperson in relaying UR, insurance, and other administrative information to requesting sources.
  • Acts as a facility liaison to client, family, aftercare agencies, institutions or clinicians.
  • Completes all documentation required by State and Accrediting Agencies within specified timeframes.
  • Understands needs of specific client population.
  • Develops a continuing education and supervision plan with immediate supervisor.
  • Participates in conferences, meetings, and continuing education programs as appropriate.

Qualifications

Independent license (LMFT, LCSW, LPC, LADC, or specialty area such as Art, Music, or Dietetics). One year substance abuse counseling experience required. SCCD a plus.
