Smithbucklin is looking for an Account Manager – Tradeshows and Events to join the team in Washington DC. Smithbucklin's Sales Services Team specializes in national advertising, sponsorship and exhibit sales for associations. This is an exciting and challenging position for a high-energy, detail-oriented individual with a keen interest in tradeshows, digital media, and print media. What You Will Do 

  • Manage a portfolio of Association clients and client events within our Sales Services Unit
  • Complete and update market analysis and prospect new leads
  • Develop event sponsorship and exhibit sales strategies, solutions, and innovations tailored and relevant to client needs to support the overall event strategy and achievement of event outcomes
  • Manages financials including developing budgets, tracking against budget and forecast and overseeing ongoing monthly financial reconciliation and final billing.
  • Collaborate with client and sales team to develop floor plan and assign booth space to vendors.
  • Manages and oversees all aspects of on-site preparation and delivery as it relates to sponsorship and exhibit sales and fulfillment including staff travels plans, creation of on-site requirements, and support documentation.
  • Contributes to overall team success by identifying problems and proactively seeking out methods to improve self-performance and/or efficiency of an operation or task.
  • Facilitate continuous communication between Smithbucklin units, clients, sponsors, attendees, and suppliers to meet the needs of client organizations
  • Complete and update market analysis and prospect new leads
  • Monitor general site statistics for clients’ websites and digital products (e.g., eNewsletters, eblasts and webinars) using Google Analytics or similar software
  • Partner with the sales team and association and production teams to improve campaign performance based on client goals

  • You’re tech savvy and have a good grasp of computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite and exhibit software
  • You exhibit strong multi-tasking and time management skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks conforming to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
  • You have a demonstrated ability to self-start as well as work as part of a team
  • You have a proven history of demonstrating a high level of professionalism
  • You possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • You exhibit a high level of detail orientation
  • You display strong customer service skills (phone skills, in person, emails)

Basic Qualifications 

  • Ability to travel 30%, both domestic and international to attend events and client meetings (may include weekends)
  • 4+ years of tradeshow or event experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in tradeshows, events, advertising or similar industries
  • Experience using exhibit software such as Expocad3E, AtoZ, or Map Your Show
  • Ad trafficking experience with a major commercial ad serving platform, such as Equativ, SmartAd, Broadstreet, AdButler, or Google Double Click
  • Proficiency with basic computer programming, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus
  • Experience with design programs, such as Photoshop and InDesign is a plus
  • Experience with HTML is a plus
  • Familiarity with Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) standards and best practices is a plus
