Parallax

Senior Digital Designer

Department: Design

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Leeds - Hybrid

Compensation: £43,000 - £52,000 / year

Description

Parallax is looking for an enthusiastic and talented Senior Digital Designer to join our design team here in Leeds. This is a varied role allowing you to flex your creative muscles across branding, UX challenges, content, mobile apps and interactive digital designs.

You’ll need a minimum of 5 years of design experience working in a team and be able to lead on all areas of digital design from discovery scoping to handing off pixel-perfect user interfaces to developers.

Our client base is vast and diverse, spanning different sectors and countries. Many of our clients reach out to a global audience, so you must be able to adapt your design style to build on clients' existing brand guidelines and visual identities or develop new ones altogether.

As a Senior Digital Designer, you must be able to showcase a highly polished portfolio of designs with live websites or other digital experiences (apps etc.). You must also be able to demonstrate effectively how your UX strategies and/or designs have transformed businesses and delivered results.

  • Engage with key stakeholders to plan and facilitate workshops ensuring business objectives, aspirations, KPIs and user requirements are understood
  • Champion the user and run research and insight exercises to uncover friction points, leading to actionable outcomes
  • Participate in design discussions and give feedback during planning and strategy meetings
  • Review and recommend common interface and interaction patterns that can be used as reference points for a project
  • Quickly turn ideas into sketches, wireframes and interactive prototypes
  • Work closely with other disciplines in cross-functional teams, collaborating with developers to ensure designs are to spec, and with project managers to work through iterations for clients in a timely and efficient manner
  • Drive operational excellence across the design process, from planning and ideation to implementation and deployment
  • Contribute to building an open and collaborative culture within the department and the design community
  • Mentor and coach other designers within the team

About You

Join our Experience Design practice, where your ability to excel in team dynamics through outstanding interpersonal and communication skills is highly valued. In this role, you will thrive under pressure, demonstrating an exceptional capacity to manage workloads effectively. Your high self-motivation and meticulous organisational skills will enable you to navigate the complexities of the job with ease.

We are looking for someone who possesses a fervent eagerness to learn and embrace challenges—yet also isn’t hesitant to offer constructive challenges to peers, fostering a culture of growth and mutual improvement. If you're someone who aims to not just work but to become an integral part of our team and evolve with our company by gradually taking on more responsibilities, then you might be the perfect fit for this role. We're on the lookout for individuals who are committed to hard work, personal growth, and contributing significantly to our team's success.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

What you need to have:

  • A deep understanding of brand values, strategy, messaging and approach to visual communication
  • Consider all the visual, interactive elements of a website or product interface and how they in turn positively affect the digital experience
  • Deliver best practices around user-centred design processes, user research and experience design
  • Understand the role content plays within the user experience and are therefore able to structure information architectures accordingly
  • Create and iterate visual prototypes to test and communicate ideas and help the wider team learn about user needs
  • Identify and understand constraints and be able to work within them
  • Craft and develop game-changing digital design experiences underpinned by detailed and accessible design systems
  • Present comfortably to senior stakeholders clearly explaining the recommended approaches and decisions made
  • Experienced in typography, layout and composition with an impeccable attention to detail
  • Display a learning mentality, keep track of industry trends, and have a constant desire to improve your skills and learn from the experience of the wider team
  • Have the ability to work directly from brand guidelines or revive them so they’re fit for purpose
