PRIMARY FUNCTION

StraitSys is looking for a Senior Software Developer to support the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Huntsville, AL. We are looking to hire an experienced senior software developer to head up our development team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of new software systems. You will also be required to maintain and modernize existing software by conduct feasibility studies. While your role will be managerial in nature, you will also be expected to code applications, create reports, and mentor the junior and mid-level developers.

To ensure success as a Senior Software Developer, you should have high-level managerial skills, in-depth knowledge of programming languages, and outstanding project management skills. Top-class Senior Software Developers know the skills and aptitude of junior staff and assign tasks accordingly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Meeting with key stakeholders, end users and development team to discuss software projects.
• Conducting feasibility studies for upgraded software systems.
• Designing new software programs, websites, and applications.
• Assigning tasks to junior/mid developers such as coding, testing, debugging, security, and analytics.
• Writing advanced programming code in languages including C#, SQL, Java, Python and more.
• Reviewing updated software systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Work closely with team and key stakeholders to understand functional requirements and make recommendations regarding UI design solutions, and procedures.
• Has DevOps automation skills including IaC, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, configuration management, version control, scripting, and security automation.
• Managing project timelines and tasks.
• Writing development reports.
• Creating technical documents for new software programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Active Top-Secret Clearance.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline. Education substitution requires 13+ years’ proven experience.
• 3+ years proven experience leading software development teams delivering software application/tools, meeting requirements, budget, and schedule.
• 8+ years’ experience in full stack software development using C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, and SQL.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.
