We are hiring several Sr. Safety Specialists for Underground projects around North America, and offer a long term career in Safety with diverse project assignments. Your first Underground project would be in the Newburgh New York area, starting late in 3rd quarter. We are hiring now, and in the interim, we would assign you to other heavy civil projects in the Eastern part of the United States. Our Sr. Safety Specialists are trainers in safety, strong communicators, leaders to guide the team in safety practices and protocol, investigators, auditors, motivators, mentors and relationship builders! Our Safety personnel support and reinforce job site safety by ensuring that the project teams are following our safety guidelines and procedures, provide detailed reporting, and safety reviews at the sites which could involve different shifts and weekends.

Key capabilities for our underground team include tunnel boring machine operations, sequential excavation, drill and blast, shaft excavation and tunnel rehabilitation.

The Underground District has been constructing underground facilities (tunneling, deep foundations) since 1949, and has completed more than 100 underground-related projects totaling more than $1B. We are recognized as a leader in the tunneling industry and our services include TBM Rock, TBM Soft Ground, Sequential Excavation, Drill and Blast, Shaft Excavation, Concrete, Tunnel Rehab, and Numerous Trenchless Methods. #UGPOSITIONS

Project location will ultimately be in upstate New York in Newburgh, starting in the fall, but initially may be in other locations on the east coast. We do offer per diem for projects less than one year and relocation assistance to and back when projects are greater than one year.
a. Four hour BEDC EHS Standards
b. Thirty- hour OSHA construction safety and health training;
c. hazardous waste remediation or forty hour HAZWOPER training;
d. Resource Conservation Recovery Act/DOT hazardous waste/manifesting training
e. Confined space training or permit
f. BEDC spill prevention and control
g. Control of hazardous energy sources (lockout/tagout);
