Job Description:

The Department of Psychiatry at UF College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida is seeking a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Psychology. The position is a 12 month, full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenured track faculty position. As a member of the University of Florida College of Medicine faculty, your assignment will be to work in collaboration with the UF Health Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment to expand the BCBA services, with a particular focus on the inpatient hospitals. Your assignment may be changed based on the needs of the department and/or college.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will work to will expand the applied behavior analysis and treatment services for children with a wide range of severe behavior disorders specifically in settings such as the inpatient hospitals. In addition, this position will participate in a growing research program in improving care for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders in an inpatient setting and with severe behavior disorders. Furthermore, this position will serve as an important academic faculty by supporting the training of nursing staff, medical and psychology students, interns, residents, and fellows for individuals with unique neurodevelopmental diagnoses and severe behavior disorders. 

Initial appointments will be for one year with annual re-appointments based on performance and available funding.

The Department of Psychiatry

The UF Department of Psychiatry is a leader in innovative, evidence-based treatment programs for a variety of mental health and substance use disorders. Treatment teams within UF Health Psychiatry specialize in dual diagnosis. They are experienced in managing treatment plans for multiple co-occurring disorders. Clinical faculty, fellows and residents provide subspecialty care using transcranial magnetic stimulation, parent-child interaction therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and specific treatments for obsessive-compulsive disorder and addiction.

We are nationally recognized for our research on addiction, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, physicians and health professional’s substance abuse, Tourette’s disorder, basic and clinical psychopharmacology, neuroimmunology, gene-environment interactions in abnormal repetitive movements, dynamic functional magnetic resonance imaging and proteomics.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with training and experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ph.D. with an emphasis in applied behavior analysis, board certification at the doctoral level
  • Current and maintain BACBA certificate 
  • Least one year of experience in a medical setting providing behavior analytic consultation.
  • Strong documentations skills 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication 
  • Ability to adapt and manage change

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in the area of severe behavior, crisis management procedures, and training
  • Ability to work in a teaching environment and collaborate with therapist
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong written communications skills
