How does a day of a Ratings Associate looks like? (Responsibilities)

  • Support senior analysts in credit analysis related to ratings, research and outreach activities.
  • Monitor credit quality and issuer and/or portfolio trends by following market developments, analyzing issuer reporting, and engaging with issuers directly for follow-up clarification and information.
  • Interpret and analyze relevant financial data and other credit inputs.
  • Contribute to research strategy, including idea generation and preliminary drafting.
  • Attend investor briefings and issuer meetings as required and support preparation of discussion materials.
  • Operate applicable ratings and research systems and use relevant applications.
  • Provide clear, concise and constructive guidance in the delegation of work to supporting teams.

Qualifications

Experience / Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a relevant field or recent graduates with relevant intern experience. 
  • Undergraduate degree required with graduate/second-level degree (Masters, MBA, etc.) preferred
  • Accounting knowledge with a strong focus on financial analysis (e.g. through coursework, CFA or equivalent, or relevant work experience is preferred)
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks accordingly
  • Some understanding of fixed income markets and/or credit knowledge is preferred

Additional Experience 

  • Economic research or relevant credit research experience preferred
  • Financial/statistical research capabilities
