Global Freight & Logistics Manager

This position has primary accountability for managing all activities related to the global freight and logistics spend for CoorsTek. The Global Freight and Logistics Manager will develop, propose, implement, and review programs to establish strategic partnerships in support of the Company’s import/export activities (air/ocean carriers, freight forwarders/brokers) and CL/LCL requirements. Will also ensure the benefit from total leverage in the most cost effective and efficient methods, as well as measure the effectiveness of such strategies.

Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Director/Senior Manager of Global Indirect Materials & Services, the Global Freight and Logistics Manager will support the development and execution of the Freight and Logistics category sourcing strategies to leverage carrier and associated spend, achieve year-over-year savings, and deliver operational leadership and expertise across the manufacturing facilities for CoorsTek.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Optimal source selection and management of inbound and outbound shipping of goods throughout the CoorsTek Supply Chain.

Coordinate CL/LCL inter-company shipments through CoorsTek Global Business units.

Evaluate existing freight and logistics programs, strategic lanes and modes, and identify opportunities for reducing costs, improving service and optimizing operations.

Compile and analyze information on each plant’s supply chains and associated cost structures, performance requirements, existing rate schedules, modeling shipping characteristics, etc.

Ensure lowest cost transportation is used by analyzing plant’s requirements, auditing carrier costs and performance, evaluating carrier/provider processes and implementing appropriate technologies.

Work with key stakeholders across multiple plants to develop strategic goals and plans for optimizing the shipping and logistics programs.

Identify freight booking and tracking systems and process improvement opportunities for optimal tracking and cost savings.

Work with CoorsTek Controllers on proper cost allocation and forecasting of freight expenditures.

Provide category expertise for Freight and Logistics.

Monitor the market for category leading practices and demand/supply shifts such as supply consolidations and innovations.

Ensure sourcing solutions meet business needs by collecting stakeholder and subject matter expertise and market intelligence.

Analyze supplier proposals and facilitate fact bases supplier selections process to assess capabilities and identify new suppliers.

Work directly with CoorsTek Import and Export Compliance Team to ensure all freight meets compliance laws and regulations.

Manage freight forwarders and customs brokers to optimize the movement of goods throughout the CoorsTek supply chain.

Establish contract terms and conditions and coordinate with legal to execute contracts with suppliers that optimize the relationship.

Manage and implement Freight Bill & Audit Program across various regions of the company.

Position will be a key contributor responsible for annual savings commitments of +$500K that will contribute to cost improvements for each of the CoorsTek facilities.

Manage routing guides, policies, procedures and carrier selection tools and online services, providing the tools and information to the plants to allow them to transact against.

Job Requirements:

This individual must have a proven track record in managing international freight and logistics, developing freight contracts, and implementing and managing transportation management systems. In this role, you will assist in developing and implementing logistics strategies and solutions that leverage the Company’s volumes and partnerships while providing consistently high levels of service in a cost-effective manner. You will be responsible for providing value and cost benefits across the Company, in a manner that considers time, cost, and quality.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related fields are preferred.

Experience:

5-8 years of experience leading strategic sourcing and operational value generating initiatives related to freight management and logistics.

Deep knowledge and expertise of Freight and Logistics.

Strong strategic, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills to act as an effective change agent.

Track record of delivering results in a complex global corporate environment.

Vision and implementation skills to drive spend management excellence.

Demonstrated analytical, financial, problem solving, organization, and project management skills.

Experience managing approximately $5M-$25M of logistics spend globally.

Extensive experience managing sourcing projects from start to finish/implementation.

Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities (MS Excel MS BI power user).

Demonstrated competence in cost reduction and process improvement.

Strong communication skills to effectively communicate at all organizational levels and to outside suppliers.

Ability to work independently and be self-motivated. 

Strong negotiation skills, proven savings track record.

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 100,000.00 - USD 132,000.00
