Zen-Noh Grain Corporation (ZGC) was formed in 1979 to accomplish the goal of establishing a safe and stable supply of U.S. corn, milo, soybeans, and other U.S. food supplies. ZGC is a U.S. subsidiary of ZEN-NOH, the largest agricultural cooperative association in Japan. We operate a grain and oilseed export terminal in Convent, Louisiana, which is the highest-handle grain export terminal in the U.S. In recent years, we have expanded our grain origination and export footprint with joint ventures in Brazil, Canada and Hong Kong. In addition to grain trading, we operate a forage processing and export business headquartered in Washington.

This job is responsible for proactively developing maintenance and reliability solutions to support and improve facility equipment health and predict the longevity of facility assets. The individual contributor responsibilities include, but are not limited to mechanical system design, programming, predictive analytics, and implementation of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) Distributed Control Systems (DCS), instrumentation calibrations, troubleshooting, and network operations.

In this job, you will:

  • Demonstrate, promote and support the company Safety Program.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance tools to proactively troubleshoot equipment issues; including utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) models to analyze sensor data from machinery and equipment to predict failures, minimize downtime and prevent costly breakdowns.
  • Utilize AI models to monitor energy consumption patterns, identify opportunities for energy savings, contributing to sustainability and cost reduction.
  • Work with third-party contractors to implement changes to improve efficiencies; supervise contracted work and contractors on site.
  • Minimize the risk and impact of failure in equipment, minimize down time of equipment at facilities.
  • Research company facilities shipping capacity utilization and develop plans with the means of mechanical, technological, administrative or behavioral solutions for improvement.
  • Coordinate alpha / beta testing and installation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, new tools and technologies.
  • Connect sensors and IoT devices to the virtual twin to capture real-time data. Monitor equipment performance, energy consumption, and other relevant metrics.
  • Conduct routine inspections; physical and virtual.
  • Identify equipment issues, diagnosing PLC issues from remote location.
  • Identify, report, and develop solutions for potential repetitive failures.
  • Initiate daily communications both internally and externally on findings, work status, etc.
  • Utilize 3D modeling and visualization tools to develop and redesign accurate representations (e.g. machinery, equipment, infrastructure, etc.) and test and validate with real-world observations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Here’s what you’ll need to be considered:

Education

Required – Bachelor’s in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical), Science, or technical fields. or an equivalent combined education, training and experience.

Experience

Required – 3 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment with an emphasis on reliability and machine health.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with a large variety of Electrical, Instrument, Networking, BLE and Control System equipment.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and related industry codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Advanced computer skills, including working knowledge PLC logic, JAVA, C++, JavaScript, SQL, Unity, and Python.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling tools, SolidWorks, Autodesk (Inventor, Revit, Recap, Navisworks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD.)
  • Familiarity with Lidar scanning, Faro scanners and Scene software.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
  • Strong decision making, negotiation, and construction management skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to remain flexible to changing priorities.
  • Ability to learn and perform effective supervisory skills.
  • Ability to coordinate projects through to completion.

Physical Demands & Requirements

Ability to lift, push, pull up to 40 lbs.

Ability to climb stairs and climb ladders to significant heights.

Ability to squat & kneel.

Ability to perform work in confined spaces.

Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions.

Ability to work extended hours, such as evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

Environmental Conditions

The work environment described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.

Travel may be required for trainings and meetings—up to 25%.
