Under general supervision, plans, designs, develops, and fulfills PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management, Campus Solutions, and Finance Solutions application development requirements for complex applications.
The Software Developer (PeopleSoft) demonstrates mastery of one or more PeopleSoft product modules and expertise using Application Engine, PeopleSoft Tools, and People Code. Serves as a resource person in at least one of the above mentioned modules.
All personnel perform related work. This specification describes typical assignments; related duties may be assigned as needed. There are two assignment levels (level 1 and Level 2).

The Office of Computing and Information Services (CIS) at the City University of New York (CUNY) supports the IT and telecommunications needs of CUNY's 25 colleges. CIS supports enterprise IT and applications, develops new technologies that advance the University's core mission, builds, upgrades and maintains the University's network, operates the University's Data Center and Service Desk and manages the processes of safeguarding the University’s IT assets and operates the SOC. Additionally, CIS develops disaster recovery plans for business continuity, maintains the security of the University’s IT assets, and maintains the CUNYfirst Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution that integrates student administration, financial management, and human resources operations across CUNY’s 25 colleges. CIS provides strategic and operational IT leadership with respect to the maintenance, enhancement, and expansion of the CUNY network spanning across all CUNY campuses.
Reporting to the Director of Applications Development & Production Support, the Senior PeopleSoft Application Developer is responsible for the development and critical day-to-day support and enhancement of the Student Information System (SIS). The SIS, referred to as "CUNYfirst" within the university operates on PeopleSoft software. It consists of multiple modules designed for diverse organizational tasks, enabling students, faculty, and staff to efficiently handle academic and administrative data. This encompasses functionalities such as registration, course enrollment, financial aid management, and student record maintenance. CUNYfirst requires significant customization and integration to align with CUNY's needs within the PeopleSoft framework, requiring regular updates and adjustments to code to implement any changes.

Level 4:
1) A combination of education and experience that may be met by one of the following:
a) Oracle/PeopleSoft certification for PeopleSoft Version 8 or later with 5 years of full time information technology work experience which must have been primarily in PeopleSoft development, OR
b) A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in computer science or related field plus six (6) years of full-time information technology work experience, which must have been primarily in PeopleSoft development, OR
c) An Associate's degree from an accredited institution in computer science or related field plus eight (8) years of full-time information technology work experience, at least six (6) years of which must have been primarily in PeopleSoft development, OR
d) A High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution and at least ten (10) years of full time information technology work experience (post-high school), at least six (6) years of which must have been primarily in PeopleSoft development
2) Demonstrated English language proficiency, including the ability to speak, read, write and understand English well enough to meet minimally acceptable performance standards set for job tasks.
Please note: No substitutions or equivalencies for 6 years of PeopleSoft Development experience will be accepted
In addition to minimum qualifications, candidates for level 4 must demonstrate that they hold additional qualifications (education, experience, or certification) appropriate to the specific requirements of the position.
