Loss Prevention Investigator

The Loss Prevention Investigator investigates suspicions of theft, fraud, and policy violations. The investigator is responsible for ensuring that each investigation is completed with the companies’ best interests in mind.

Major Activities

Internal Investigations 

  • Prioritize cases in conjunction with Zone Loss Prevention Managers, District Managers, and the Manager of Investigations.
  • Actively research and investigate information generated from the exception-based reporting system. 
  • Ensure all aspects of investigations opened by operatives, network calls, exception reports, etc. are handled in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Responsible for reviewing and completing all necessary paperwork from field personnel such as promissory notes, civil demand notices, and evidence. 
  • Research and investigate information generated from third party tools.
  • Professionally complete and submit all necessary paperwork in a timely manner. 
  • Maintain and document all internal case logs and ensure all case files are completed properly.

External Investigations 

  • Use available tools to identify and pursue external theft suspects. 
  • Work with Zone Loss Prevention Managers, District Managers, and Store Managers to identify and stop external theft rings.
  • Work with Law Enforcement agencies to prosecute external theft suspects when possible.

Communication 

  • Maintain constant communication with Zone Loss Prevention Managers, Zone Human Resource Directors, District Managers, Manager of Investigations, and other appropriate personnel on issues involving internal investigations. 

Projects 

  • Participates in projects as assigned by the Manager of Investigations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Type of experience the job requires 

  • 3-5 years of experience in Loss Prevention, Retail, and/or Law Enforcement 
  • Experience conducting in-depth investigations
  • Detailed investigative report writing

Preferred Type of experience the job requires 

  • Multi-store investigations experience a plus
