Job Description

The Visa Payments Platform Development - Client Services team develops and supports Visa's contact center and client support applications, which are used by our business partners to service our Visa clients worldwide on a 24 by 7 basis.

The Senior Manager Software Engineer position within the team is an People manager based in our Warsaw, Poland office. The successful candidate is expected to manage Poland team, service delivery and subject matter expert in the team. The selected candidate will be fully responsible for both service delivery and operational excellence of services built on full stack technologies.

Responsibilities

As a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering, you will provide technical leadership for one or more product offerings under Payment Platform Development, Cardholder Applications Development group. This role extends beyond resource management, development, delivery and you will be required to participate in application architecture, feature design, end to end network topology, application scalability needs and be the owner for bringing up an application from whiteboard to life.

  • Responsible coaching and guiding team members.
  • Design and improve internal development methodologies utilizing .NET and supporting technologies
  • Extensive experience in API Development using SOAP or REST, JSON and XML
  • Must have a solid understanding of relevant API standards like OAuth, SAML.
  • Experience with both NoSQL and SQL datastores including MySQL and MongoDB, Unix or Linux platforms. Experience with tools development, automation (CI/CD, Auto Deployment, System Availability, etc.), logging and monitoring.
  • Responsible for agile end-to-end development process within the construct of DevOps practices and methodology
  • Support agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand ups, sprint review and sprint retrospective.
  • Provide technical insights to support release planning, including user stories breakdown, tasks assignment, and backlog grooming, through elicitation and clarifications of user stories and requirements with business stakeholders and communication of IT dependencies.
  • Adapt to best practices and lessons learned from sprint execution to maximize team velocity.

  • Collaborate with Business teams, architects, and senior technologists to ensure completeness and common understanding of product vision, roadmap and end-to-end quality delivery.
  • Responsible for operational excellence for full stack services
  • Actively collaborate within Client Systems team, as well as with all other IT teams and business users located worldwide in various time-zones to fulfill the above responsibilities.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • Experience in managing onsite and virtual teams of size 5 or more.
  • Experience in core.NET stack is a must.
  • Experience in card industry or fintech delivering solutions in disputes, fraud, risk, payments and card emergency services
  • Full stack technology, in one or more of the following technologies - ., Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Angular/React, JavaScript, SQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka and Design Patterns
  • Experience with successful design, architecture and development using Hadoop large data processing systems is recommended
  • Experience with Restful API development
  • Experience with agile development incorporating Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, utilizing technologies such as GIT, Maven, and Jenkins
  • Be able to drive and actively engage and contribute to deep application and system architecture discussions
  • Good front-end development skills and architect level knowledge in back-end
  • Experience in developing large scale, enterprise class distributed systems of high availability, low latency, and strong data consistency
  • Experience developing instrumentation for software components, to help facilitate real-time and remote troubleshooting/performance monitoring
  • Be able to drive and actively engage and contribute to deep application and system architecture discussions
  • Passionate about delivering zero defect code that meet or exceed the proposed defect SLA and have high sense of accountability for quality and timeliness of one’s own deliverables and team deliverables
  • Be systematic and be able to do deep research wanting to uncover the details
  • Have good work ethics, and be a team player to bring the best results as a team
