Assistant Athletic Director, NCAA Compliance

Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director, NCAA Compliance manages, monitors, and maintains financial aid records for all student athletes. The Assistant AD serves as the liaison to the Office of Financial Aid. This position also serves as the liaison to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the various graduate program admissions offices. This position is responsible for managing the NCAA Compliance Internship Program. The Assistant AD monitors and maintains records related to student-athlete awards and benefits. The Assistant AD assists the Associate Athletic Director NCAA Compliance to ensures compliance with applicable NCAA, American Athletic Conference, and Tulane University rules. The position interacts and collaborates with student-athletes, coaches, staff, and other Tulane University constituents to ensure shared responsibility and an effective culture of compliance. This position reports to the Associate Athletic Director, NCAA Compliance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Candidate should possess excellent written and oral communication skills; attention to detail; excellent computer skills; demonstrated knowledge of NCAA compliance rules and regulations; basic knowledge, understanding and adherence of conference and University rules and guidelines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various departments and constituencies
  • Strong communication, management, and analysis skills to enhance operations productivity and efficiency.
  • Extremely organized, self-starter, intrinsically motivated
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coaches, staff, and student-athletes
  • Working knowledge of the NCAA Compliance Assistant software and compliance monitoring systems (e.g., ARMS, Jump Forward, or Front Rush).

NCAA Related: 

Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Four (4) years directly related NCAA compliance experience. 

OR

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent
  • Ten (10) years directly related NCAA compliance experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or Juris Doctor 
  • Experience at the Division I intercollegiate level
  • Proficiency in NCAA systems, compliance software, Teamworks, and Banner.

This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 26.
