Job Description

The Opportunity:

The Marketing Manager is responsible to deliver top and bottom annual financials for the assigned American Girl sub-brand(s) and significant new brand initiatives.

Oversees integrated marketing strategy and planning, insights and business analysis, cross-functional team management, and omnichannel marketing execution for product and brand driven launches. The Marketing Manager will lead campaign planning and marketing initiatives to support American Girl’s sales growth across all channels, with a strong focus on DTC and retail execution. The ideal candidate for this role will have skills in strategic thinking, impeccable project management and organizational skills, demonstrated excellence in communication, and the proven ability to deliver measurable results in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

Marketing Strategy:

  • Develop overarching omnichannel strategy and marketing brief
  • Articulate target audience, positioning, messaging and creative guardrails, KPIs to ensure sales objectives are hit
  • Leverage consumer insights and learnings from past campaigns to ensure we are set up for success

Campaign Scope and Planning:

  • Build overarching marketing plan with timelines, responsibilities and channel KPIs
  • Develop master campaign calendar and roadmap; obtain inputs from channel marketers and creative teams; show how pieces fit together; maximize tactics and ensure alignment with strategy
  • Define asset needs and other creative campaign deliverables; ensure creative budgets and timelines are met
  • Define core project team/R+, and delegate or take ownership over any campaign pieces without a clear owner
  • Prioritize program components and assets to ensure budget objectives are met; track and reconcile project budget

Channel Management and Execution:

  • Lead day-to-day execution across priority channels (and in some cases, external partners): ecomm, retail, digital, PR, content, loyalty, etc.
  • Take and send out notes with action items; provide weekly status emails/decisions needed to AG Marketing Leadership
  • Own and track progress against master campaign calendar
  • Escalate any internal or partnership issues that may impede execution

Performance Reporting:

  • Lead performance reporting and wrap reports; project post mortems
  • Closely monitor sales performance across all channels and recommend changes to marketing plans or promotions as needed to meet business results for revenue and profit targets.
  • Leverage data to derive insights and provide recommendations to strengthen future programs

Budget Management:

  • Support Director of Marketing with A&P budget management

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Vendor Management (Partnerships, Agencies, etc)

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For: 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s Degree preferred with 4+ years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree with 6+ years of experience
  • Strong marketing experience in a retail or consumer driven company

  • Strategic Thinking: Exhibits creative and analytical thinking abilities with strong storytelling capabilities and an ability to con-nect the dots. An exceptional ability to communicate the overarching strategy with a consumer-first lens, in a voice that's strong, clear and focused. Strong business acumen. Ability to take conclusions from data and communicate and present those actionable insights to leadership and business executives.
  • Delivers Impact: Above all, wants to deliver impact both as an individual and as a team. Comfortable taking ownership to drivediscussions with cross-functional partners resulting in a consensus recommendation. A proven willingness to go the extra mile,to take on the things that need to be done and a positive attitude that rolls with changes.
  • Highly Adaptable: Comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities. A continuous learner that is ready to push the Marketing organization into new areas and challenge the status quo.
  • Collaboration and Influence: High EQ. Excellent communication skills, the ability to compromise and the desire to work with skill sets across the entire organization. Will be expected to lead teams that include team members with more senior titles
  • Executive Presence: Must also be able to clearly communicate with all levels within the organization and to influence, persuade and selldirection for marketing.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $120,000 and $144,000.

  • This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
