As a Senior Front-End Engineer at CoStar Group, you will be working on highly visible applications used by millions of consumers across CoStar Groups subsidiaries. Our product group in Austin, TX is currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Front-End Engineer to join our team in supporting continual growth and development of our industry leading Apartments.com, ApartmentFinder.com, ForRent.com and ApartmentHomeLiving.com web sites. Work together with a ‘startup-minded’ development team delivering innovative web and business applications. Our core tech stack across the team is Ruby on Rails, Python, and JavaScript, with most project code running on Linux. Applications are backed by SQL Server and a rich ecosystem of ETL processes, data caching, and application support architecture.

This position is located in Austin, TX and offers the following hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement front-end B2C and B2B experiences using Ruby on Rails, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript that are fast, compliant with web standards, and flexible across desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms.
  • Actively contribute to a culture of professionalism through continuous learning, customer focus, and clear communication.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited, not-for-profit university or college
  • Track record of commitment to prior employers
  • 5+ years of software development experience in a production environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of JavaScript and HTML5/CSS
  • Strong experience with Agile web application Development

Preferred Qualifications And Skills:

  • Code management with Git.
  • Experience CSS preprocessors such as Sass or Less.
  • Understanding of web applications architecture (server topologies, EC2/cloud, application performance improvement strategies, caching, SQL)
  • Ability to clearly communicate, and work well within a team.
  • Ability to effectively arrange priorities and work independently.
