Job Summary:

This position is responsible for both the Graduate Medical Education Program and the Department of Medicine practice administration. 

GME Program:

This position serves as the GME Institutional Coordinator for the ACGME and manages a team of Residency Coordinators and oversees the functions and resources associated with organizing, implementing, and meeting goals and guidelines for the GME programs at SVMC, which includes, but is not limited to Internal Medicine, Radiology, Psychiatry, Family Medicine and Anesthesia with 100 to 120 Residents each year in a 3-4 year training program approved by The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). 

Dept of Medicine (DoM) Practice Administration:

This position is responsible for coordinating the collaboration and management of 13 medicine specialties and oversees the administrative structure for activities within the Department of Medicine, the largest department at SVMC, and integral to almost every service offered. In addition, this position closely collaborates with the Chair of Medicine in a collegial environment to operationalize the many programs and objectives that are outlined for the department each year.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages activities related to staffing, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Communicates status of operations to management and associates.
  • Handles and resolves issues that jeopardize the success of the assigned area.
  • Prepares and analyzes departmental financial reports, financial analyses and budgetary reports.
  • Responsible for the administration of the residency training programs and is directly responsible to the Designated Institutional Official (DIO).
  • Responsible for the oversight of all residents as it pertains to Ascension Health and SVMC employment requirements including but not limited to myLearning modules.
  • Liaison between the DIO and the hospital administrators as well as other departments, divisions, residents and students.
  • Responsible for supervising the residency program coordinators and student clerkship coordinator.
  • Visa preparation for all visa types and residents.
  • Should have broad knowledge of the following: Internal Medicine and Radiology residency program annual calendars, recruitment, international medical graduates, accreditation and regulatory issues, legal and risk management, information technology, finance and payroll systems.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA preferred.

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

  • Must obtain Training Administrators in Graduate Medical Education (TAGME) certification within 4 years from assuming the role and maintaining the same.
  • Training Administrators in Graduate Medical Education (TAGME) preferred.

Language Skills:

  • English. Bilingual preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in a healthcare setting. 7 years relevant experience in a healthcare or university setting preferred.
