Overview

This is a research fellow (post-doctoral level) position involving scientific investigation in an NIH-funded lab within the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology that studies antibiotic resistance and vaccine development for pathogenic streptococci. Responsibilities

  1. Perform complex experiments in the fields of bacteriology and immunology. Includes work with live animals (mice, survival surgery).
  2. Provide scientific input to the design of experimental work and interpretation of data.
  3. Guide and supervise laboratory research assistants and summer students.
  4. Self-guidance to learn new methodologies and gain expertise in new scientific areas, as needed.
  5. Abide by established lab standards for communication, documentation, organization, and teamwork.
  6. Other tasks as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum education requirement: Ph.D., M.D. or other doctorate in a scientific or medical discipline. 
  • Proficient in the use of Excel; ability to learn and use basic statistical and graphing software; ability to learn and use specialty software supporting major lab equipment and resulting data analysis.
  • Six years (or more) of wet lab bench work.
  • A willingness to work with BSL-2 and ABSL-2 agents, human tissue samples, and mice (including survival surgery).

Minimum Salary

USD $46,400.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $58,000.00/Yr.
