The Waldinger Corporation, a full-service mechanical, sheet metal, electrical and service contractor, is seeking Database Developer to join our high-performing and innovative team. The Database Developer has a passion for the trade and is ready to roll up their sleeves to be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining efficient and secure Oracle and SQL Server database solutions.

This role requires previous experience in database management systems, strong programming ability, and strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and address database-related issues. The Database Developer learns and utilizes best practices to achieve success, operates well in high-functioning diverse teams to deliver results, and does so in a way that embraces Waldinger’s values and the expectations of the customer. Work is guided by the Senior Manager of Business Intelligence/Software Development and will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, business intelligence analysts, and system administrators, to ensure the effective management and optimization of data within the organization.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Database Design and Development- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, then translate them into database designs.
  • Extract, Transform, Load (ELT) Processes- Develop and maintain ETL processes to extract data from various sources, transform it into the desired format, and load it into databases.
  • Risk & Security- Ensures risk analysis and mitigation is built into each IT project and is engaged in advancing the safety culture.

  • Perform quality assurance testing, facilitate end-user testing, and secure user sign-off/approval of new or modified solutions.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues promptly.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency through proper normalization and validation techniques.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data retrieval, manipulation, and reporting.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in queries and database structures.
  • Develop and maintain database schemas, tables, views, and indexes.
  • Monitor and fine-tune query performance to improve system responsiveness.
  • Document database designs, schemas, processes, and troubleshooting guides for reference.
  • Perform regular backups and recovery procedures to maintain data availability and integrity.
  • Follows the established best practices to achieve better results, reduce risks, improve efficiency, increase stakeholder satisfaction, and enhance reputation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Database Management, Database Administration, Software Engineering, Computer Science or Management Information Systems 
  • Experience working on Oracle or SQL Server environments 
  • Experience in T-SQL, PL/SQL
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills
