Job Summary

The Senior Manager Environmental, Health, and Safety ensures the continuous improvement and development of UGI’s safety and environmental health management systems to ensure compliance of regulatory requirements, as well as support the safety culture.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate compliance of federal and state safety and environmental regulations, and corporate environmental & safety standards and guidelines. Direct the EHS Department to make corrective or preventive measures to ensure these compliance regulations/standards are met. Develop annual work plans for the department.
  • Provide strategy and oversight to the Manufactured Gas Plant remediation program.
  • Provide tactical leadership to the Safety Culture Program. Assist with the on-going Safety Culture improvement strategy. 
  • Maintains corporate program to track, evaluate and investigate worker injuries and motor vehicle accidents. Work on incorporating new reporting software to compile safety documentation. Works with other departments to educate importance of complete documentation and record keeping related to OSHA recordable and motor vehicle incidents.
  • Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations. Involved in industry associations including the American Gas Association, North East Gas Association and others as applicable to stay current in the field and contribute to the shaping of the industry in Safety and Environmental. 
  • Reviews, completes, submits, and maintains all required environmental and Safety reporting. Provide oversight and cross functional support of environmental permitting with the engineering and construction departments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and form cross functional partnerships (internal and external).
  • Knowledge of UGI’s Safety and Environmental programs.
  • Knowledge of Environmental remediation as it pertains to manufactured gas plants and PA’s Act 2.
  • Knowledge of OSHA General Industry Standards and Construction standards.
  • Budget development and management of budgets.
  • Employee development and performance management.
  • Excellent Communication Skills, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Environmental Regulations.
  • Ability to lead meetings with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in critical thinking and problem solving.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Construction Sciences or other related discipline. 
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in EHS.
  • PMP certification a plus, Master’s in leadership or business a plus.
