CommOps is hiring a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE II). This role will primarily support the Community Insights team, which spans Business Intelligence (BI) and Research Science (DE) functional areas. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical, critical thinker with problem solving, data mining, analytics and pipeline development skills. This role requires close engagement with research scientists, principal product managers, and program managers to generate decisions impacting organizational strategic direction. Successful members of this team have a high bar for ownership and work autonomously to create high-quality analyses and reporting. They thrive in ambiguity, ask hard questions, and build scalable solutions that provide critical business insights. They find timely answers buried in large data sets and complex systems, identify root causes, and are obsessed with generating actionable business insights.

Key job responsibilities

  • Partner with in-house scientists, product and program teams to translate requirements into effective end-to-end analytical solutions.
  • Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and Python.
  • Build and deliver high quality data architecture to support business intelligence engineer and program managers’ reporting needs.
  • Aggregate, analyze, and visualize large-scale datasets across multiple sources to guide discovery of delivery process problems and support machine learning (ML) model development. This will require data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights via written recommendations.
  • Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
