Job Overview

The position will be based at Sasol Secunda Shondoni Mine and the incumbent will report to the Field Service Supervisor.

Provide technical support to the Customer support in terms of safety, breakdowns, coaching and to achieve lowest cost per ton.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain / repair Joy equipment;
  • Conduct daily pre-maintenance and inspections;
  • Customer support in terms of safety, breakdowns, coaching and to achieve lowest cost per ton;
  • Drive productivity improvement and quality work performance;
  • Uphold safety standards and good housekeeping;
  • Conduct frequent needs analysis within Mine sections to identify gaps and opportunities for optimisation;
  • Travel between Mines for maintenance / repairs;
  • Provide technical support to other Field Service Technicians and Customer;
  • Write clear reports.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Matric / N3;
  • Fully qualified Electrician / Millwright with Flameproof and Gas Testing certificates;
  • Must have done Joy relevant courses;
  • Must be computer and database literate (MS Access, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint);
  • JNA I and JNA II and VFD experience is crucial;
  • DC & AC shuttle cars experience will be an advantage;
  • Minimum of 05 years’ experience on underground equipment;
  • High level knowledge and experience of Joy and Stamler equipment and Fletcher;
  • Experience in workshop assembly and manufacturing techniques will be beneficial;
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential with an ability to communicate with customers and to accept and adopt a competent, responsible attitude.

Additional Information

  • Ability to communicate with top level people (Engineers, Shaft Management, etc.);
  • Self-motivated individual;
  • Willing and able to work alone and in teams;
  • Must have own reliable transport and valid driver’s license;
  • Must be willing to work FULCO shifts, standby’s and abnormal hours at times;
  • Must be available outside normal working hours as and when required;
  • Must be willing to travel long distances where applicable (Surface and Underground);
  • Must be residing or willing to relocate to Secunda, Trichardt or Evander.
