You will be located in our Cigna Health Solutions India (CHSI) offices in Bangalore, India, with flexibility to work from home 2 days per week.

We are looking for a Senior React / React Native developer to join our Digital Squad, a self-organized, cross functional team in the IGO/NGO Tribe within Cigna's International Markets. You will help building performant mobile apps on both the iOS and Android platforms. You will be responsible for architecting and building these applications, as well as coordinating with the teams responsible for other layers of the product infrastructure. Building a product is a highly collaborative effort, and as such, a strong team player with a commitment to perfection is required. Together with the team, you will take ownership of its supported applications, continuously improving and extending them and making sure they keep running smoothly in the production environment. 

You are customer oriented while keeping performance in mind. You keep an overall view on all components of the applications in the squads portfolio and know how to find the right balance between future-proof solutions and fast-to-market requirements.

You have a business drive, passion for technology and are eager to learn. Above all, you have a can-do attitude where you roll up your sleeves and just do it.

Your responsibilities

• Together with the squad, you transform and develop all requirements to an appropriate architecture and solution. 
• Build pixel-perfect, buttery smooth UIs across both mobile and web platforms.
• Diagnose and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks for performance that feels native. Our team implements a "you build it, you run it" mindset.
• Reach out to the open source community to encourage and help implement mission-critical software fixes—React Native moves fast.
• Maintain code and write automated tests to ensure the product is of the highest quality.
• Supporting the rebuild of the existing outdated and unsupported web portal and wrapper app into a modern and future proof React web portal / React native mobile app.
• You have end-to-end responsibility for both the Web and Mobile frontends of our member portal landscape.
• Formulate & propose improvements, both on technical and functional level.
• Define technical guidelines.
• Document the implemented architecture and solution.
• Deliver quality code, whilst keeping deadlines and business value in mind.
• Work together in an international, cross-functional squad.
• Have a proactive role within the development chapter across all IGO/NGO squads.

Don't worry, you don't have to do this alone; you will work closely with the other developers, the Product Owner, Scrum Master and testers in your squad, and with the internal customer, our architects and various supporting teams (Information Protection, DevOps, ...) . On top of that, you are supported by the Developer Chapter, the group of developers working in all IGO/NGO squads.

Your Profile

General requirements

• You have a Bachelor or Master degree in IT.
• You have excellent knowledge of written and spoken English..
• You demonstrate strong communication, prioritization, organization and problem solving skills.
• You have a client oriented, creative and inventive mindset.
• You are sensitive to cultural differences and you enjoy working in a global, multi-location team.
• You are able to deal with ambiguity.

Technical skills

• Excellent knowledge of React & React Native.
• Knowledge of popular libraries used along with a React Native app: React Navigation, React Native Reanimated.
• Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token.
• A knack for writing clean, readable, and easily maintainable TypeScript code.
• Familiar with state management: React Query, Zustand, etc.
• Able to consume REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Being able to contribute to the codebase of a REST or GraphQL API is a huge plus.
• Familiar with testing/validating API changes via tools like Postman or Insomnia.
• Familiar with writing tests for your application: Jest unit tests, component tests with react-test-renderer or testing-library/react(-native).
• We focus on creating accessible React Native applications. You know about W3C standards and understand the importance of usability, accessibility, and SEO.
• Familiar with one or more modern CI/CD environments: Azure Devops Pipelines, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Circle CI, etc
• Knowing your way around Fastlane to build & deploy your app comes in handy, especially the intricacies of iOS signing.
• Having the knowledge required to write native modules in Obj-C/Swift or Java/Kotlin is an asset.
• Having a background in native iOS and/or Android development is a big plus.
• For example, experience with Xcode, Gradle, Android Studio.
• You have experience with App Store Connect, TestFlight, and Google Play Console for maintaining and releasing apps.
• Previous experience in Web development and interest in working on not just our app, but also the web portal is a huge plus.
