The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineer (Mid Level, Senior) to join our Battlespace & Simulation Management Visuals Software Team located in Hazelwood, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Global Services (BGS) business organization.

The Battlespace & Simulation Management (BSM) Visuals Software team partners with Global Training & Engineering (GTE) for the design, development, manufacture, and maintenance of training devices for a wide variety of commercial and military aircraft - everything from F-15 fighter jets to Apache attack helicopters, and NASA's Starliner spacecraft.

This opportunity steps into the future of developing and innovating designs for these vital devices and will be challenging, complex, and fast-paced. The selected software engineer will interact regularly with other visual and systems engineers. This includes working in a development lab environment with a focus on Software and Systems Engineering processes.

The primary result of this role is executing the Software Engineering tasks and responsibilities aligned with the needs identified by program management while applying engineering discipline and rigor. The selected candidate will report directly to the Visual Software Engineering Manager.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities.
  • Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
  • Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
  • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues.
  • Works under minimal direction

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Hazelwood, MO. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret US Security clearance Post-Start.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 5+ years’ experience years programming in C/C++

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies (SAFe).
  • Experience with Git/GitLab.
  • 1+ years’ experience in visual systems or visuals applications
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux platforms.

Typical Education/Experience:

Mid Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior Level (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Travel: Ability to travel 10% of the time.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Summary pay range for Mid Level: $104,550.00 - $141,450.00

Summary pay range for Senior: $122,400 - $165,600
