Summary of Position
This candidate will support NASA’s Geostationary Littoral Imaging and Monitoring Radiometer (GLIMR) investigation. GLIMR is a $108M UNH-led investigation to study phytoplankton physiology and other coastal ocean processes. The contract is funded through NASA’s Earth Systems Science Pathfinder Program Office. GLIMR’s on-orbit instrument operations will be conducted from UNH. GLIMR has recently passed the NASA confirmation process and moved into the implementation phase. The instrument is under development and work has started to develop the SOC. GLIMR is planned to operate through 2029.
Under general direction of the Project Manager or Principal Investigator and as a member of one or more scientific instrument research and development teams, this individual works closely with project scientists, digital electronics engineers, and technicians to design, develop, test, and maintain the software required for the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) supporting pre-launch testing and post-launch operations of spaceflight instrumentation for GLIMR and other NASA science projects.
This position will develop, set-up, and manage the GLIMR Science Operations Center.

Manages, communicates, and coordinates science and mission operations requirements with the project team and subcontractors.Train others, including students, in data systems and science and mission operations. Students will be used to help with mission operations

Specify, design, and implement the software for the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and simulators required to test, operate, monitor, and command scientific instrumentation for spaceflight projects.Knowledge of specialized data systems and ground systems equipment used in instrument and spacecraft applications.Provide software design support to team members. Participate in the analysis and troubleshooting of instrument or ground system issues
Duty/ResponsibilityManage tests of ground software and review, edit, or prepare test procedures and reports as necessary. Proficiency with simulations needed for data systems on NASA projects.Proficiency with data analysis tools, visualization tools and methods.
Duty/ResponsibilityObserve and participate in instrument testing on-site in California. Observe and participate in host integration activities at host facility (location TBD).Run host integration tests with the science operations team.
Duty/ResponsibilityConduct trade studies relating to specification and selection of components for data systems.
Provide input to research proposals and cost estimates as required.
