Job Overview

We are currently looking for an International Trade Specialist to join our team in Holland, MI.

As a International Trade Specialist, you will:

Work collaboratively to implement and maintain policies, procedures, and systems enabling Haworth to comply with Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and other special trade programs/regulations. Maintains database information for Haworth products traded globally. Performs Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) analysis and classification for all Haworth import and export part numbers. Performs tariff-shift and regional value content analysis for FTA certifications. Maintains supplier FTA certification database.

Some of the responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Performs tariff-shift and regional value content analysis, using Haworth costed bills of material and supplier FTA certification database, to produce accurate FTA reporting and reduce Haworth’s exposure to duties when trading within North America.
  • Completes FTA certifications in timely manner to correspond with products’ export schedule, ensuring deadlines are met for on-time shipping.
  • Completes blanket and transactional FTA certifications as required to ensure compliance with FTAs.
  • Maintains valid records of all FTA certificates and back-up records to ensure appropriate customs records are available.
  • Performs data analysis and input for all items in the international product database Researches and analyzes product information to determine country of origin, HTS classification, and FTA eligibility.
  • Classifies all import/export material and products, utilizing General Rules of Interpretation and researching Explanatory Notes, United States (US) Customs’ rulings, technical drawings, and expert opinions to ensure accurate duty reporting and associated cost allocation.
  • Determines proper duty rates for import/export material and products, based upon classification, to support landed cost analysis.
  • Maintains import/export item master data and communicates data to customs brokers to facilitate on-time, delay-free shipping.
  • Works with Purchasing on collection of annual FTA certifications from Haworth suppliers to reduce liability for duties when applicable for North America trade.

Do you have these required qualifications?

  • Bachelor's degree in business or similar.
  • One year experience in international trade and/or trade compliance experience.
  • Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Ability to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance.

Do you have these preferred qualifications?

  • Office furniture industry experience.
  • HTS classification experience.
  • U.S. and Canadian Customs self-auditing experience.
  • U.S. Free Trade Agreements analysis experience. 
  • SAP Experience.
