The OCDI for Children & Adolescents is seeking to fill the position of Shift Coordinator. 

Under the direction of the Program Director and Milieu Manager, and in partnership with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, the Shift Coordinator is the senior colleague responsible for overseeing operations of the assigned shift. The Shift Coordinator is accountable for delivering a therapeutic milieu environment that adheres to treatment principles, primarily Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). The work of the Shift Coordinator is central to the safety and well-being of all residents and program personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supervision of Staff:

A. Assures that all staff members know their specific assignments for a given shift, and that all required duties (including completion of required checklists, notes, and any other documentation) are assigned to a specific staff member. These assignments include, but are not limited to:

  • Engaging in treatment appropriate exposures
  • Leading groups/study hall/education 
  • Medication administration
  • Coordination of patient transportation as required.
  • Rounding on floor to assure the well-being of people and the environment
  • Doors closed or locked as required
  • Program supplies stored as required
  • Patient rooms are observed for compliance with program policies.
  • Patients in need of special attention are noted and cared for

B. Assures application of ERP principles in all interactions throughout the shift.

2. Liaison to McLean Hospital and on-call program personnel

  • Emergency response management such as medical or psychiatric emergency
  • Routine or urgent/emergent facilities matters

3. Shift to shift transition:

Assures that personnel staffing incoming shift are informed and prepared prior to allowing departing staff to leave

  • All required documentation completed
  • Pass-on communications noted
  • Residents’ individual behavior plans understood and able to be implemented
  • Keys and other critical materials accounted for and transitioned
  • Administrative tasks (e.g., answering phone, filing, organizing, monitoring faxes, coordinating treatment blocks) to ensure smooth shifts

4. Supports a high quality milieu and high performing staff

  • Provides feedback on staff performance to Directors and Managers
  • Makes recommendations on improving the milieu
  • Implements newly identified improvement strategies
  • Maintains a positive attitude and supports team morale

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts degree strongly preferred.
  • One year of experience in milieu work at intensive mental health treatment program for adolescents or young adults, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated understanding of ERP principles and ability to apply them in treatment setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and incorporate feedback
  • All employees must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication, clinical and administrative purposes.
  • Required to complete electronic medical records training and demonstrate 80% accuracy on competency test within 30 days of hire.
